Last season, the Cowboys had conversations with Trey Lance regarding an extension after Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury, but those did not go anywhere.
Lance started the final game of the 2024 season but currently remains unsigned.
Milton, who was a sixth-round pick last year, played in New England's season finale, leading the Patriots to a win against the Buffalo Bills. He completed 22 of 29 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown while also running for another score.
The signing also likely means that Easton Stick, the Chargers' third-string quarterback last season, will likely not be back.
The No. 3 pick in the 2021 draft by the San Francisco 49ers, Lance remains something of a mystery even after four seasons in the league.
He started four games in two years with San Francisco, posting a 2-2 record while throwing for 797 yards, 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 56-of-102 passing. An ankle injury cost him his starting job, leading to Brock Purdy's run of success with the Niners.
Lance also played the majority of the snaps in last year's preseason for the Cowboys, completing 73 of 113 passes for 662 yards and two touchdowns.
At 24, he is younger than 2024 first-round picks Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr!
Former coach Mike McCarthy said Lance just needed to continue to gain experience because he played only 19 games at North Dakota State before entering the NFL.
In 2023, the Dallas Cowboys acquired Lance for a fourth-round pick in last year's draft, but he did not play a snap in 2023 and saw only spot duty in 2024 until starting the regular-season finale against the Washington Commanders -- completing 20 of 34 passes for 244 yards without a touchdown or interception, and running for 26 yards on six carries in a 23-19 last-second loss.
Lawrence had surgery on the same shoulder in February 2021 to repair a labrum injury and was limited in his participation at the Jaguars' rookie minicamp and OTAs.
The deal returns Flacco to Cleveland, where he won the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year award in 2023.
The ONE YEAR contract can be worth up to $13 million with incentives.
Flacco joins a quarterback room with Deshaun Watson, who is rehabbing after retearing his right Achilles tendon and could miss most or all of the 2025 season, and Kenny Pickett, who was traded to Cleveland and said he was told he would get a chance to be the starting quarterback.
Ultimatum?
Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter told CBS Sports that if an NFL team told him he had to focus on wide receiver or cornerback and not play both, it would be game over for him. 
"It's never playing football again," Hunter told CBS Sports. "Because I've been doing it my whole life, and I love being on the football field. I feel like I could dominate on each side of the ball, so I really enjoy doing it."
**Personally I believe Darnold was a one year wonder and will flop with the change in teams.
