As a 49er fan he worries me. He blew the Super Bowl with Atlanta with his play calling. He choked away Super Bowl against Kansas City.
The blunders against Green Bay could of cost them the game. The two things that stand out to me in Green Bay game is over a minute to go in the half at midfield with three timeouts up one a chance go up 8 and he just let's clock run. That was as bad as it gets. Number two is he runs Jennings out of the backfield. Did he think Deebo was in?
Anybody that follows SF he never throws the ball deep so they never get the deep pass interference call.
Why do you have possibly the best linebackers duo yet they never blitz them. They have no creative blitz packages to generate sacks. They suppose to have this great defensive line but they get 0 sacks.
With the talent they have the coaching is the only thing holding them back and should of lost Green Bay. With there talent level should of blown Green Bay out and Lions as well.
Lastly the odds makers had them 9.5 favs over Green Bay and 7 over the lions. This in itself tells the talent story.

It’s strange how he seems to be a different coach in the playoffs. One thing I can say for sure is that if he doesn’t start blitzing quarterbacks he isn’t going to win a Super Bowl. He has to realize that the front four aren’t doing enough. If you let any quarterback sit back there and have a picnic on every play, they’re going to find someone open. Hit the f*cking quarterback for Christ sake!

Baby Shanahan is an offensive genius just like his father. It's extremely hard to win a Super Bowl, and even get to one. He has been to the NFC Championship 3 times in a very short HC career and the Super Bowl once. He was limited by his quarterback in that game. He's limited by his QB even now. He didn't blow that Super Bowl. It was a collective effort. The 49ers' defensive scheme is just fine. It's effective, isn't it? Blitzing isn't what Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw do. This defense isn't predicated on blitzing from the linebacker position. They've invested heavily in the defensive line and look to generate pressure from the front four only. Truth be told, every defense wishes it could rush four and drop seven effectively. Go back and watch those Eli Manning Giants teams and see how effectively generating pressure from the front four leads to success on the back end. Dre and Fred patrol the middle allowing the Niners to play 2 high. Fred Warner are great run stoppers whether plugging gaps or making tackles in the open field. And they're great coverage linebackers. Dre Greenlaw had two game saving picks yesterday and all you can say is why isn't he blitzing. Leave the coaching to the coaches.

Oh, and you may follow the Niners but do you live in the Bay? It was dumping rain last night. Brock Purdy was having trouble gripping the ball. Shanahan kept it conservative to avoid a costly turnover and potential points going into the half, opting for runs and safe passes. If you though they were gonna zing it down the field in those conditions, and with his quarterback, you have another thing coming. It was hard treading all night. He marched them downfield and into position for a field goal attempt.

Kyle didn’t used to go deep because his offense philosophy is built around running the ball and high percentage passes, and he had a quarterback he didn’t trust to throw deep. But with Brock he’s been taking more shots deep. The reason he didn’t call many in the Green Bay game was because the protection wasn’t holding up. Brock was getting pressured every drop back, deep shots take long to develop.
His handling of the end of the 2nd half showed me he didn’t trust Brock with how Brock was playing so he went conservative. When Brock is on though he’s been more aggressive at the end of the first half. I hope he’s learned from his past 4th quarter collapses and if he has the lead will lean on CMC. But I think it’s just something we have to deal with with Kyle. He believes he can outsmart anybody so he will call those passes when he should be running.
Losing Demeco really hurt the defense. I feel they’ve regressed under Wilkes. He seems to have a different philosophy where he’s more focused on the secondary. What can you do, that’s what happens when your team does good. You lose coordinators.

This is the game I’m more confident in capping. The 49ers woke up this weekend with the hottest team coming in giving them a run. The Lions are playing good football with three consecutive tuddie drives in both playoff games. The 49ers defense is the difference here. Not sure if they cover the 7 but they will win.

So you think that letting quarterbacks sit behind the line and pick you apart is a good philosophy? That’s what Jordan Love did. What do you think Patrick Mahomes would do? The truth is that the 49ers defense is over hyped. When that front four can’t get home they aren’t great. And definitely not shut down Mahomes or Lamar great. QB pressure is everything in the playoffs.

People on here still think the games are real, that 28 - 3 “choke” apparently wasn’t enough proof for the blind people that the NFL = WWE. Fun fact about that Wrestlemania SB, Atlanta only ran the ball 4 times in the second half and when in FG range, they didn’t run all 3 times, kick the FG and go up 2 possession to basically ice the game. Yet the following season, when they played in the regular season, Atlanta was getting blown out at halftime yet ran the ball more than 4 times in the second half. Funny how that works. The fact people believe the Pats came back from down 28 - 3 in just 17 mins is comical to me. That should have been tour wake up call that the NFL = WWE

Never said it was a "good" philosophy. Good is subjective. I simply said that it is their philosophy, and that it has been effective.

This D line has not been good at all and is overhyped because or previous years. Bosa cared more about getting jacked than he did about working on his skill this year. They need to get more creative in getting prssure and not hoping this D line finally wakes up. We saw the same thing with Philly this year. The Dline protects a very average secondary for SF.

The 9ers aren't going to have nearly as much trouble with the Lions. GB had a much better defense.
Lions didn't get a stop after a score until the 3th quarter and that was vs Mayfield and a team that they knew was passing on every down because not only were they behind the Bucs run game is terrible anyway.
They won't have that luxury vs the 49ers, they will have to focus way more on stopping the run. And CMC being the focus of every defense is why the 49ers lead the NFL in yards per completion - a stat the Lions defense is awful in.
9ers -7 is my top play of the title games. The Lions are the worst defense left by far and barely got by the Rams a team SF has owned for years on end. They couldn't even score on the Rams D 2nd half and last game they struggled on defense 2nd half til the very end. They gave up a long game tying drive to end the half.
The Lions are also a lot less likely than GB to handle any adverse weather conditions they rely on team speed. They're not going to go from not winning a playoff game in my lifetime til beating the very clear cream of the crop in a title game on the road, not gonna happen. They didn't really impress me vs the Bucs even tho they covered and the Bucs are barely an above average team

or cam doing flips into the end zone, but not diving for a football in the sb because he was afraid of getting hurt

Shanahan saves his most boneheaded decisions for the post season. The pressure gets to him and he makes stupid decisions. Not the first and not the last to do that of course. Purdy seems to wilt now and then too. A perfect storm.

100% agreed. If you rewatch the lions Bucs game closely. You can see how many things went perfectly for Detroit. There was a few questionable calls by the officials, dropped interception by Tampa in the end zone, and a killer injury to Jamel Dean, which Detroit immediately exploited all the way into the end zone. And Tampa was still in the game in the fourth quarter. They will need the same lucky breaks and more to beat San Francisco.
