Very true @davemsh
But the argument can be made he lost the game early and often by not making plays the entire game and the last play just stands out because it was the last play. If he was better they should not have been in that situation against a bad team.
I get all INTs are not the same. But when you are 'forced' into a situation (by earlier bad play) where everyone watching knows what is about to happen it is very hard for any QB to make a play. Then you put the backup in and he is 'forced' into the same situation. It can be argued that he was the one that lost the game by forcing that ball into an INT instead of throwing it away after the fake spike, etc.
But yes, that was a bad throw by Jones.
I do not like when teams nowadays do not let QBs stay on the bench early and learn -- he was never an Elway or Luck. He needed to be developed. But Belichik was not ready when Brady left -- or he had bought into his own hype and thought he could do it with any QB.
I know Cam Newton was never the guy -- but someone should have been there instead of Jones the first year at least.
Now he may never become whatever he may have with proper time and development.
But that is the NFL today.

I think a major problem with Bill Belichick has been the GM part.. Look at the offensive side of the ball for the Pat's? In 2019 they drafted N'Keal Harry when they could of had AJ Brown,Deebo Samuel or Metcalf..Recently they drafted Tyquan Thornton when they could of had George Pickens as well plus you have Mac Jones starting at QB.. I think Billl should retire and not chase Shulas record but I think it's clear Bill wants that record for himself..
Bill has a LOT of say in the personnel. He is to blame on that as well. He is not the evaluator of talent that people, or even he, thinks he is. He is not a Parcells, or Johnson.
He should chase the record on another team.

only play left in the hof coach hand is to give into the public opinion. next season, play the people pleaser role and take caleb williams in the first round. ride that play right out the exit door.
For what? He is not an elite NFL QB and would not win right away in that situation either; he needs time to develop.

@Raiders22 Great response R22 (except the last sentence, that wasn't what I was going for w/ Cassel at all) I would love to be directed to your Brady vs Rodgers breakdown, also any involving Manning and/or Brees. You come dangerously close to tap dancing on using the "It" factor, but if you can quantify it, I'm all in to learn.....--- head shoulders knees and toes. good stuff
I will post again later.
My rule now is no more Matts as a QB after Stafford and Ryan
Flynn, Cassel, Hasselbeck, Moore, Sanchez, McGloin, Barkley, Schaub, etc.

I've been off the Belichick bandwagon since 2017 when it became obvious to me he was making decisions based on emotions and personal bias, even while he continued using the mantra 'do what's best for the team', which was clearly BS. But even so, I have to give him credit for being ONE OF of the best head coaches I've seen over the past 50 years. He peaked during the years 2001 - 2016 or so. What made him one of the best were his game plans, having his team ready to play and his in-game coaching. But as a GM he wasn't just badm he was a non-entity. He held the title not to perform GM duties but only for the control. This is something that's never been addressed by the media. In fact it's cracked me over the past decade listening to local media and fans talk about in-season moves the pats should make when they never do anything unless Belichick moves a player who he doesn't want around for a draft pick.
So giving BB credit for "building" these teams is a joke. The team that won the first three Super bowls were built by guys like Scott Pioli a number of player personnel people (i can't remember names right now but there have been a few execs that should be credited). BB got all the credit in the end and the misconception that he was the teams' architect took off. So as members of the braintrust moved on Bill gradually consolidated power and control. In 2019 he lost his top scouts after he drafted N'keal Harry over their objections. Then he short changed Brady and forced his exit thinking he could win without him. A major factor in that was Bill resented Brady being credited for the team's success. He got what he deserved in the end. Even though he's being grilled in the press, I still think he's getting off easy considering. And his legacy as a coach is going down the tubes with it all, which is unfortunate, because he was a very good one for a while...
BB's story a classic example of something that happens in business. People have success and keep gettiing promoted until they reach a point they aren't cut out for.

I do not know where the old postings were. But I put some of it here:
