One of these things is not like the other.
Bellichik is like a confused drunk senior citizen on the sidelines.
Before HT.... The Colts had a 4th down near midfield and he watched as the clock rolls down so that the Colts could call a timeout and run a play. He makes in game errors constantly
The game has passed him by

On the same team that went 16-0 the year before
Weird how people think that one season washes away the last 4 and all the season in Cleveland
I dont by any stretch think Bill is a bum or anything but the logic makes no sense

I like how people try to act like brady wasn't surrounded by a super team in tampa nope it was just brady all by himself and in the same breath act like pats have any talent since brady left

@ArtSchlichterJr
yup-funny the people that think that he is the GOAT coach-not even close to Don Shula IMO-most of the people that think he is haven't watched any NFL before the 90's, any coach that that could go the the SB with David Woodley knew what he was doing...BB had one playoff win without Brady...

Sounds like him and most people that produces losers. So was it him or Tom Brady? Think we have the answer after TB went to TB and this season as a very good sample size.

My SIL watched the game in Rob Krafts' box today . I told her I'd pay for a year of my nephews college if she wrote on and wore a t-shirt that said----- "THE TUCK GAME WAS A SCAM"
I haven't heard back, so I assume she opted to keep her job instead.
Billy B is a poser and a cheat, despise him.

Yes. That team did not even make the playoffs and lost 5 more games than they did the year before, with more or less the same team, BUT with Brady.
So, what is your point exactly?

All the people saying BillyB is gonna get fired are morons. They are losing on purpose to get the highest draft pick they possibly can in a loaded QB heavy draft next year. It's SUPER obvious to anyone with half a brain cell.

@El_Jefe88
No sir, they are not.
No way BB would lose on purpose, even if NFL teams ever really did that. No QB is in the draft remotely good enough to be the next Elway or Luck.
His ego is too big for that. I doubt he gets fired but I imagine he will be highly encouraged to retire or head somewhere else.

@Raiders22
I totally agree that Brady > Billy. However I do remember looking up the two Qbs #s up to that time, and they were surprisingly close. TB had 7 years in, when Cassel took over in 2008. If you list all of those 8 seasons NE QB stats in a random season order and take their names off, you would be hard pressed to pick out Cassel's year. The best season is easy to pick, but after that, very similar stats. Now as the years went on and the game changed, Tommy Boys' #'s went way up also. Maybe the point is that NE's QB stats weren't crazy different w/ a replacement, and by extension, TB was/has gotten too much credit? I don't buy that entirely, but I think that used to be the argument.

@iceman67
It depends on what QB #s you actually look at. If you look at in-depth and situational numbers and crunch time numbers you will always see a difference. Not all of the numbers are reflected in how well a great QB can actually motivate a team to play better in certain situations; whereas, an elite QB cannot do that BUT will have better passing numbers but not better situational numbers or even WAR numbers.
I did a very detailed and in-depth breakdown on this with Brady and Rodgers elsewhere on here. One I think is the best QB ever and the other I think is the best QB talent ever. The numbers that folks normally look at will always show Rodgers to be better; the situational numbers in crunch time will show Brady was far better than anyone, ever.
I would not look too seriously at Cassel's stats and think he was in either category to be honest.

@Raiders22
Great response R22 (except the last sentence, that wasn't what I was going for w/ Cassel at all)
I would love to be directed to your Brady vs Rodgers breakdown, also any involving Manning and/or Brees. You come dangerously close to tap dancing on using the "It" factor, but if you can quantify it, I'm all in to learn.....--- head shoulders knees and toes.
good stuff

Players win not coaches. Mostly Any coach can do well with Brady and Mahomes at QB.
Coaches do contribute some more then others obviously.
Jimmy Johnson won 3 SB with Dallas went to Miami and received one of largest beatdowns in NFL plAyoff history 62-7 loss.
Look back in history is loaded with these examples and now BB joins the club.
Shula after going to 3 straight SB winning back to back didn't do much untill he got Marino. He did get to SB in 82 the strike shorten season, but he went how any years in-between.
Bill Walsh retires and defensive coordinator takes over and the team anxious to prove that players win not coaches put in one of the most dominate possessions in NFL history with a 55-10 blowout in SB.
Walsh never did anything like that. The players proved their point.

I somewhat agree. But the coaches play a role on getting the most out of an elite player or tailoring a setup to certain players to be effective.
For example, even after JJ left Dallas could still win a SB but could not sustain it after Aikman, etc. SF was able to do it because another all-time elite QB came back to back.
Whereas, only certain coaches can do as well with multiple QBs. For example, Parcells, Gibbs, Shula, etc.
No matter what, Belichik has not made it into that elite level for me, at least not yet. But he is very good.

really? Then why would the AZ cardinals win yesterday? Why did the Patriots beat the Bills. Patriots loss yesterday because Mac Jones made a horrific INT on a wide open TE for a TD.

@theclaw
I also have a different look on some of the older guys like Shula. He did fine with different QBs. Landry to an extent did. Reeves did somewhat.
But as talented as Marino and Elway or Fouts were they simply were not Montana, Young, or Brady-type QBs.
It sounds harsh but an argument can be made that Reeves almost won SBs despite Elway and he almost won one in ATL despite Chandler. Shula almost won another SB despite Marino. Denver finally did win but not because of Elway so much.
People see all-time throwing talent like Marino, Rodgers, Elway, Fouts, Peyton, Brees etc. and think they should have won more SBs -- and it would have been nice if they had.
But when teams, and by default, coaches over-rely on QBs that are great but not clutch-QBs the results often are not what we think they should have been.
This is not a knock on the great coaches or the great QBs -- any team is better for having had them; but it takes the right mix, fortune, and team to get it right.
Stafford currently is the best example. A great thrower but not an all-time QB to me. But he happened into the right situation, so to speak. Same with Eli.
Whereas, which of the Parcells QBs or the Gibbs QBs would really be considered an all-time great -- but they won with different QBs, etc. This works even if you do not apply it to only SBs.

I think a major problem with Bill Belichick has been the GM part.. Look at the offensive side of the ball for the Pat's? In 2019 they drafted N'Keal Harry when they could of had AJ Brown,Deebo Samuel or Metcalf..Recently they drafted Tyquan Thornton when they could of had George Pickens as well plus you have Mac Jones starting at QB..
I think Billl should retire and not chase Shulas record but I think it's clear Bill wants that record for himself..

only play left in the hof coach hand is to give into the public opinion. next season, play the people pleaser role and take caleb williams in the first round. ride that play right out the exit door.
