I really thought the guy was compost a few years ago when the Jets bought his act and then got burned. I thought the Vikings were batfeces crazy when they sold their souls for a season with the Great Equivicator. Where that 33-TD, 7-INT, 13-win season came from will be a question for the ages.
Because it's not happening again. Not this year and not any other year. Favre's 4-completion (in 12 attempts) second half against the Saints on Thursday night will be the default from this point on. He'll toast the Lions, twice, and he'll probably be able to move the ball against the Patriots' soft zone defense. But every other game on the schedule will be a grind, and a physical toll will be exacted, much like compound interest. By the end of the season Favre will be thinking retirement -- for real, this time.
There will be no Super Bowl, no NFC Championship Game and no wild card weekend bye for the Favre or the Vikings. Brad Childress will be fired shortly after the season, and the team will spend a first- or second-round draft choice on a quarterback.

Listen, I'm a Vikings and Favre fan ok, but really, I have to disagree. Not about Chillly, I do think he'll be fired at some point soon, within they year if they don't do well, and probably after the season if they get close again. However, I have to disagree on Favre and the Vikings in general. I think Favre will be just fine. Similar issues last year first couple games. Takes awhile to get in sinc when the coaches tell you that you don't have to be at practice. They don't care if you are sharp weeks 1-3. Just get us to the playoffs and then shine is what they are saying. It's a marathon. Sidney Rice comes back midway through, the vikes are probably about 4 and 4 at that point, and maybe they are a couple games back of the packers, but they finish 6-2 and get in and then it's a luck of the draw. Just like every year. The playoffs are who is hot and stays healthy. The vikings defense (which only gave up 7 points in the last 57 minutes of the game) will get their best (arguably) cornerbacks back, and then they can throw some blitzes and change ups in there instead of bailing out the horrible play in the secondary.
My two cents....from and admitted vikings fan. Blast away.

There is a lot of bad QB play in the NFL. Although Favre wasn't at his best Thursday night, he was okay. By midseason, probably earlier, that offense should be running on all cylinders. It's way to early to throw in the towel on Favre. His best statistical season last year! He is far from washed up...

Not altogether very dissimilar performances. And last year was against the Browns. The Saints are a much more dangerous defense than the Browns were last year. Point is, I expected him to start slow in game 1 all along.

Judging teams on 1 game or preason shows a lack of football knowledge. As a Favre fan, I easily predicted the outcome of the first game. He needed to play the final preseason game for any chance for victory, seasons are long and 10 wins gets you in the playoffs.

i have said this for months, they would probably get more offensive production out of TJACK...I know everyone will bash me here, but I am gonna make some cash fading them when they are huge favs at home. There will be several close games due to missing rice...he was huge for them...they could benefit from more mobility at qb until rice gets back and then favre is the better option
