How are you supposed to cap this shit? they made sure no TD for Dallas.
I stayed away from the game because I knew it would come down to a call or two and who the league wanted. They know Dallas has the easier schedule and can win out and get to 10 wins. Detroit plays the Rams next week and if they lost this one it was going to be over for them. ![]()

Isn’t Detroit the better team? How is it a surprise they won.

Find angles that work consistently for you. I think it ignoring injuries, players, stats etc (maybe look into a ref trend) usually works well despite my horrible contest record?? I just been guessing on that, trying to read into the lines early in the week.

The NFL has always been like this especially big games.. .. about 2-3 seasons ago I realized it would get worse going forward.. I’ll never forgot the Washington vs Giants game when terry Mclaurin checked in with the line judge and gave terry the ok but called off sides then the next play EGREGIOUS missed PI call in the endzone with the defender holding and wrapped around I believe terry Mclauren like a cozy warm blanket for Washington to win the game.. but they didn’t call anything and lost
last season they began foreshadowing what’s to come with egregious calls.. this season is blatant terrible calls where the announcers are saying that’s a bad call consistently and Mike Pereira literally doesn’t even know what to say anymore and calls them out.. literally they don’t care if “Vegas calls” it’s soo obvious slap to the face but nothing happens so we move on..
I keep telling everyone once private equity (hedge funds) got involved it’s about over.. tread extremely cautiously
trick is to be on the right side of the fix easier said than done.. zero complaints from the winning side that’s for sure

No ActonMagnet, I don't think it's you at all. I noticed it quite awhile back and determined that the NFL should now stand for the "National Flag League". ![]()

I disagree for the most part on that note. Without placing a wager at times, I have often arrived at that conclusion when watching various games.

Maybe so but by the same toke, there are still far too unnecessary flags thrown which spoil the game(s) altogether. The officials like to be noticed on many occasions. ![]()

I know it. You know it, many know it and many defend it and refuse to believe it. But what I do also know is when I'm on wrong side I don't complain..... I move on to the next game.![]()

Dallas/philly couple weeks back a decent example as well
League needed a dallas win so that the NFC East race wasnt over in mid-November
What do ya know...14 penalties on philly...yes 6 or 7 were philly own fault, false starts/offsides etc...but a couple were huge including one or 2 drive extenders for the cowboys late in the game
Now dallas has a shot at the NFC east til the end of the year...good for ratings
They also call penalties on teams leading in the 4th Q to keep games interesting . Happened in 2 of the 3 Thanksgiving games. Lions/packers and dal/KC. Refs gifted KC a 1st and goal and didnt call PI on detroit on a blatant PI...both in the 4th Q to keep games close and entertaining...its all about viewership ratings...
owners make most of their money off TV deals which make money selling advertisement slots...they need eyes on the TV as long as possible to keep those ad slot values high
The most common is a holding call on a team up 2 possessions to potentially stall a drive...1st and 20 hard to overcome, and most coaches go tentative since they up 2 possessions. This gives the trailing team a potential opportunity to get the ball back fast and keep the game more interesting
Blowouts are bad for ratings/owners pockets

To be clear, games are not rigged
Refs are given general instructions to follow if possible. Of course some games will get out of hand no matter what (min/sea game that was 26-0 for example) but they definitely instruct refs to try and keep games close and entertaining when possible
Nothing more than a smart business decision for the owners
Now could there be rogue refs and players, who are actively attempting to fix results/their player props....absolutely...just like the NBA and MLB just got busted for...you have to assume it's going on in the NFL as well, they aren't some superior entity...

The marriage between legalized gambling and pro sports was made in hell. Consider the huge amount of dollars involved. Criminality was 100% predictable. But now that the horse is out of the barn is there any solution? I believe there will be many more investigations in the near future.
