 Some are pretty reliable.  They keep a tally at most major places and a lot of them are surveyed to get the number.  

There is a very big demand for this and so that calls for a need for it to be fairly accurate.  There are a lot of handicappers that use them and provide their source to provide 'talking points' about games.

But, some are not as accurate as others, of course.

Why cant gamblers on the internet realize that the public is all of us bettors, myself included.

You want to see who the public is on, look in the mirror.

Gamblers like to think there are sharp bettors, internet forum bettors and then the public bettors lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I was 3-0 yesterday and I'm pretty proud of that. I dont want to break the streak so I need to get legit on my pick. I still got about 12 minutes to decide.

I will explain that for you. If you owned a sports book, would you want to provide any type of information to the bettors who are trying to win your money. If bettors would just stop and think about that for a minute. They post these bullshit numbers to screw with bettors heads and get bettors away from actually trying to handicap the game.

You want real numbers, then you better be good friends with the sports books.

My point is, and always has been, there is no way you and I or anyone in this thread can confirm nor deny that ANY of these alleged betting percentages are factual unless you are or are working for the book itself....no way no how can you confirm the legitimacy....and in no way can any one person or site provide information on ALL betting percentages so when people say the public is on this and the public is on that it's a complete fallacy...maybe a book is providing correct figures, but the whole betting public...lol...ok....that's comedy, so essentially no one knows the complete figures and anyone trying to say that is lying....

There are some I am sure are sketchy.

I am sure the retail books may not be as reliable as the bookmaker books are, for example.

But I know a lot of professionals that use this information a lot.  If it was not reliable they would not even bother to pull it up.

For example, I backed away from 2 plays last week just for this very reason.

Sometimes, the public is right of course.

Merrill has a regular 'fade the public' segment, where he picks the public plays of the week he would fade and it is right around 60% for the year.

But it is like a lot of things -- you have to make sure you are getting reliable information.

Plenty of people on Falcons. Superbook in vegas said the needed tampa to cover onPat Eversons of Vegas insiders pre game video. If you blindly fade those numbers you will eventually end up in a slump.
