Drew Dalman at the age of 27 is calling it a career. He was stellar for their o line in his only year as a Bear. Grading out at 77.5 by PFF.
He led all centers with 1154 snaps played, not missing a single game. He had only 3 penalties and gave up 1 sack all year.
Compound this fact that starting LT Ozzy Trapilo tore his PCL in the playoffs and may not ever play football again....Chicago we have a problem.
Do not underestimate the significance of changing at the center position. Just ask the Detroit Lions how things went when Frank Ragnow retired early at the age of 28 last year.

If things couldn't get worse for the Bears...they got rid of their #1 wr in DJ Moore. Got Patriots center Garrett Bradbury who's a 30 year old stiff, and lost out on the Max Crosby sweepstakes. Congrats to the Ravens in that regard.
Keep in mind, the Bears have the #2 projected sos next season.

The Bears got rid of their entire safety core. Kevin Byard, Jaquon Brisker(watch his tape vs the Rams) and CJ Garner Johnson. To me, it was their most solid position group.
They added Coby Bryant who is obviously a good safety, but had the luxury of playing on the best nfl defense last year with the Seahawks.
The Bears have done nothing yet to address their d line, which is piss poor.
And it's not like they saved a lot of $ by letting those safeties walk. The Steelers and Patriots will like the additions of Brisker and Byard.
So what are the Bears saving their $ for, Caleb Williams contract next year?
Fwiw, I'm not impressed by the addition of newly aquired center Garrett Bradbury. Patriots fans please chime in. Their run game wasn't the best, Bradbury is a weak run blocker. This will be Caleb Williams 4th center in 3 years.
What could go wrong?

Bradbury will suffice IMO but as you stated that D- line stinks.
With all due respect I disagree. The Bears have had 8 different starting centers since Olin Kreutz retired in 2010. They tried to suffice with them, but they didn't, until Dalman came to town.
Bradbury feels like another bandaid imo.
Don't expect the Bears run game to be like last year's. On a less important note(but I think it could be), the Bears let TE Durham Smyth go as well. One of the best run blocking tight ends in the league. The Bears ran the most 3 TE sets last year.
And I don't even want to think about the pass blocking just yet...don't forget that LT isn't a sure thing as well.

As a fan that has to suffer through Bradley Bozeman blocking air the last two years for the Chargers, I feel you on your concerns over Bradbury. Maybe take solace in knowing he'll never play as awful as Bozeman did.
Interesting case, his best 2 years 19 & 20 with the Ravens who set all time season rushing record in 19 as a guard, was then moved to center.

3 years and 40 million dollars went down on Monday when Coby Bryant was taken off the practice field on a stretcher.
He's expected to miss 8-10 weeks with a bone bruise, small fracture, and hyper extended knee.
That leaves a rookie at safety to start for the Bears, and who else? Cam Lewis has stepped into the role in practice. Although he was already filling in at Nickel for currently injured Kyler Gordon, who seems to be always injured.
I see a cluster fuck on defense

I was leaning towards the Panthers for week 1, but they also lost one of their best defensive players with a torn ACL. Do you have a lean for week 1 Sac?

As of now, this early yet, I'd lean Panthers +3 as a home dog. I see that DK went to +2.5, most other books are still at 3 with extra juice.

They pulled off 6 late game comeback wins vs the Raiders, Commanders, Bengals, Giants, Vikings and the Packers. Finishing 11-6.
In the wildcard round of the playoffs, they did it again to the Packers. Down 21-3 at halftime, they won 31-27. Marking their first playoff win in 15 years.
