15 pt lead. Let's see what happens in the next 12 minutes ![]()
Barkley basically said the Spurs coach should be fired for having a 25 pt lead and then having them shoot eight 3 pointers and not taking time off the clock and Fox making a bad play.

Don't get that mentality when teams are up by alot they think some missed 3's won't hurt their team with that big of a cushion. they think they'll eventually slump their way out until it's too late then they play irrational. Wemby could not put the Knicks away again, don't think the Knicks will need to worry about him in pressure situations lol

It's semantics about comparing large leads being lost. One day a 35 point lead will be lost because of the three pointers made. In modern NBA the wild swings due to obsession with perimeter shooting is a consequence. And you can't run off 12 minutes with a shot clock in this game. You have to make shots eventually. Momentum is a weird mystifying thing in sports. You get it, keep it, can lose it, regain it again, or lose it entirely. I remember winning and losing games like that in my little leagues. You can't explain it sometimes it merely happens in sports. It was a tale of two halves.
Look at this game today and the Giants-Nationals and Dodgers-Pirates games. You lose momentum entirely it swings the other way and you never reclaim it. I saw the score in first half but I do not bother watching basketball anymore. I waited until the fourth quarter. Saw tail end of third quarter but the Spurs went ice cold. Why should the coach be fired? Should he be given an extension because they were on fire in the first half?
They scored 30 points in the second half. Even if they defended well and the Knicks weren't on fire the Spurs needed to make shots. And they simply didn't. You can't score 30 points in two quarters and expect to win especially in modern eras. Defense can't override that.
Knicks got all the momentum while playing hard. It's not like the Knicks are not deserving they had won 13 straight games. It's also an example of you can't teach experience. Yes the Spurs went ice cold but they still could have won the game. Fox made several errors and Wembanyama missed free throws late. But the Knicks willed themselves to a victory too. I am impressed by small market teams building perennial contenders like Oklahoma City. It's more impressive to me than big market franchises always in the mix. Always liked how San Antonio's franchise has been run for decades even if Popovich hates Trump lol.
