Sparky, out of curiousity. Who is the 3rd team on that list of AL teams that you feel are the best in baseball?

I would have to say...as of now...Red Sox. But in the past, Red Sox own the Angels in the playoffs and if the playoffs were to start now, that would be the first round matchup along with the Yanks and Tigers. I'm not saying the Phillies are bad or anything, I'm just saying the I think the other teams could beat them. Now I know the Yanks lost to the Phillies when they came but it's safe to say they are a different team now. And you can very well see a Yankees/Phillies matchup, which would be scary because of all their left-handed bats at Yankee Stadium.

What makes the Yankees' lineup so dangerous is all the switch hitters they have to adapt to any pitcher.

Well...he had a 4+ ERA in 2008 and this season on the road. I'm curious to see how he does away from Petco and in the AL. It may be a big difference.

Cashman is simply looking like a genius with the acquisitions of Hairston and Hinske(early in the trade) where they had to give up nothing as opposed to V-Mart.

Sparky, I would love to see a Yankees/Phillies Matchup. I wouldn't know who to take to win it all if the two of them were to meet up. I figured the Redsox were the 2nd team on your list of AL teams. I guess I shouldn't have assumed. Who is your second team? I know many people say the Chisox have a good chance and they're a sweet sleeper pick but don't id have to say TB has a better chance than the Chisox. TB hasn't hit full stride yet and they have been hanging around all year building character and leadership skills. They have been consistent and I see them sneaking in past the Red Sox. A team who I feel have tinkered too much with their team all season and may not be able get things together and hold onto the wildcard spot.

Making too many signings and trades once the season begins isn't a good thing! Boston was one of the most, if not the most active team once the season began, signing players and making trades.

I guess I'd have to pick the obvious. As of RIGHT NOW...Yankees, Angels, Red Sox in the AL. But come playoff time, I think the Sox will jump in front of the Angels, and if those 2 teams meet...I say the Sox will beat them. Yankees v Red Sox would be a great ALCS, and either of those 2 v either of the Phillies/Dodgers would be a great World Series. Obviously because of the World Champs and...of course the Joe Torre and Manny Ramirez factor.
