White Sox close to signing Dunn and Konerko

Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports that the White Sox and Adam Dunn are near agreement on a four-year, $56 million contract.

Dunn's asking price was four years and $60 million, but he probably made a slight concession because of the quality of the White Sox organization and his desire to join an immediate contender. A left-handed batter, he blasted 38 home runs for the Nationals this past season and should do quite well inside the hitting-friendly confines of Chicago's US Cellular Field.

According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, several White Sox players believe the club is close to re-signing Paul Konerko.

The White Sox are also near a deal with free agent Adam Dunn. GM Kenny Williams has a reputation for being aggressive and moving quickly in negotiations, so it's quite possible that both are signed before next week's Winter Meetings. The Diamondbacks and Orioles were also showing interest in Konerko, who batted .312 with 39 homers and 111 RBI this past season in Chicago.

Dunn deal is official according to Bob Nightengale. 4 years, $56 million. Huge pickup for the White Sox. He was just what they needed. Now get Konerko signed so the Kotsay/Jones starting DH experiment can go away.

[/Quote]Rumor is AJ was signed today so that probably puts him in the 7 spot knocking Alexei/Gordon down to 8 and Omar/Dayan at 9

Yes...I see that AJ is just about signed. I kinda like this team. If Beckham can start the way he picked up last season this team will have some very tough outs.

Good pick up..but Konerko&#x27;s gotta go. Seems to only play when the contract is up.&#xD;&#xA;I like the at they resigned AJ. No one really out there that could of helped. &#xD;&#xA;Big Bats are great, but it&#x27;s still about pitching! Who can we get to help out the staff is the bigger question...

It would be nice if they went out and got a threat at 3B but I can&#x27;t see that happening. Onto the bullpen. Kerry Wood perhaps.

You can never count out Kenny Williams but it would be shocking to see him pick up any legitimate starter. The bullpen needs help. Putz is a huge loss. Jenks a loss as well although not as big. Kerry Wood as mentioned in the post above is a possibility. I&#x27;m not really sure who else is out there. Soriano is and would be nice to have but I&#x27;m sure he&#x27;s out of Chicago&#x27;s price range. I think I read on here that DJ Carrasco signed somewhere yesterday. I haven&#x27;t seen that confirmed though. He would be nice to bring back at a cheap price to fill one of the holes in the pen if he&#x27;s still available.
