This Pirates-Rockies series is feeling like deja vu all over again. Who will ever forget that weekend series last summer at Coors Field that began with The Big Cheese (Anthony Senzatela) allowing NINE runs in the top of the 1st. The lowly Rockies tried to fight back a little, but the Pirates kept responding and led 12-4 in just the 4th inning.
Later on the score was a nutty 16-10 and then 16-12 heading to the bottom of the 9th when the Pirates disgraced themselves and their families by letting the fightin’ Rockies score a shocking 5 runs, capped off by Brenton Doyle’s walk off 2-run homer that gave the hometown heroes a wild 17-16 victory.
With big and scary Paul Skenes scheduled to start the next night, the conventional wisdom was that he would surely restore order as a huge -240 favorite. And he did……for awhile. But the Rockies broke his shutout in the bottom of the 6th and knocked him out of the game and went on to rally for a second straight upset.
So will the valiant Rockies follow up last night’s lucky 1-run series opening win by beating the fearsome Skenes again?

At this point anyone who is backing skenes is just chasing the "he wont lose them all" angle. 6 in a row and a -220 tag tonight whether he wins or not thats a horrific bet.
The pirates havent been hitting for his starts (no surprise) and they couldn't even hit off a guy with a 8 era last night thats not the sign of a team who should be laying 220 to anyone.

Brandon Lowe leads off the top of the 9th with a double to right center. Bryan Reynolds then grounds one up the middle that is smothered by a diving Willi Castro, but he couldn’t do anything with it. Then Ryan O’Hearn struck out and that’s it for Rockies reliever Brennan Bernardino.

You guys are NOT gonna believe this, but the Pirates botched their bases loaded opportunity. Tyler Callihan struck out and then Nick Mangum tapped one weakly to Kyle Karros at third. Karros gloved it but then protested that pinch runner Billy Cook interfered with the play and the umpires huddled and quickly agreed with him. Game over.
Congratulations, JFelty, on the Rockies +180 and Rockies +3 -160.
