Gotta love MLB playoffs - Let's look at this game as we have lot's of variables:
-115 Philly Nola 6
Atl Kerr -2
Philly with Nola starting opened at -115 currently -around -111 (madduxsports.com) . I give Nola a rating of 6 using a variety of sources and my own methodology. Kerr -2. Based on what I'm understanding Kerr may pitch 1 -3 innings (last time out he went 3 innings vice Miami then Holmes came in).
The plan - is pretty much the same - whether it's 1 or 3 innings probably depends on how Kerr performs but then Holmes takes over. With Philly - depends on how Nola pitches - if he struggles - they got Wheeler who may come in and Luzardo as well. Once again numerous variables and unknowns to try to handicap.
Nola lost his last start against TB 1 inning and sucked it up at home. Also, he sucked it up against Milw at home. However, the 2 previous starts were on the road, he won against the Mets and pitched pretty good against Atlanta in Atlanta but got a no decision. Nola, also has more strikeouts than innings pitched - a great sign for a pitcher who has pitched the whole season - 175.1 Ip/177 Strike outs.
Kerr - last time out started against Miami and pitched 3 innings, his only start - gave up 2 hits 1 BB. He pitched in 8 games prior -none as a starter - 18.1 Ip with 11 strikeouts. The game against Miami - Holmes came in afterwards - pitched 4 innings - gave up 3 hits, 1 hr 3 BB, 1 er and lost the game. Kerr has pitched against Philly not as a starter but out of the bulpen and has pitched well.
Bottom line lot's of unknown variables in this game. A few Questions to ponder:
1. Will Nola pitch like he did recently on the road or like he did this past Sunday.
2. Will Kerr be calm and cool or falter like some rookies seem to do.
3. Does Holmes pitch like he did in Miami or does being at home make a difference.
4. How soon Does Wheeler come in.
5. Big game like this why is Philly/Nola the opening line favorite.
When I compare Nola's rating against Kerr's rating - I don't have a lot of data that points to one team or the other, however, from what I do have as well as few other reasons - I'm going with Philly tonight.
My Play:
Philly -111
Good Luck all

Ray Kerr made his big league debut at the beginning of the 2022 season when he was with the Padres. He's appeared in 48 games for the Padres and the Braves and is 32 years old. I don't expect nerves to get the best of him tonight.

Thanks bud and back at ya - you never know. I was in Philly last weekend - turned on the radio and the Philly fans were yelling they suck a bunch of bums - I hope they don't make the playoffs etc etc. - sometimes these teams/players - look at it like us against the world - Nola pitched pretty good in NY and Atlanta - hoping he pitches like he did.
@MrBator
