NY Mets Skipper
They lost 7 of their last 10. All by 2 or more runs. 28/30 in runs scored since the break. Dead last in bullpen ERA since the break. Go ahead bet on them. I'll just
while you

He's very naive. Believing every team will give 100% till the end. He also didn't see the interview. The coach was asked difficult questions about the team giving up. He didn't go to them with it.
Guys like this ruin this forum. I saw an interview that I found interesting and possibly helpful to the forum. Just grief in return.

By the way, Francisco definitely looked like he didn't really give a shit about his or the team's performance. That is apathy defined right there.

Guys, I'm not talking in short terms saying today's game will be won by x. I'm saying that overall, teams and players don't quit. Does a struggling brokerage firm say "fuck it, we'll just pin the Wall Street Journal on the wall and throw darts at it"? Does a salesperson say, "I haven't made a sale in a while and haven't been meeting my numbers. I'll just say 'fuck it' til next year."
And way besides that point, I think if someone is going to place bets not by looking at pitcher vs hitter trends, ballpark advantages, detailed stats, etc. but instead place bets based on a tv interview where a manager (whose job it is to motivate and inspire his team) implies that his team is made up of quitters, they're in trouble.

I have a winning record. I finished in the green last season too. Not sure why you're questioning my capping. All of my picks were posted both seasons. I hope you have an excellent posted record if you're questioning me. The best cappers in the forum don't even talk like you.

Since you don't post all of your picks and track your records I'm not interested in your "expert" opinions.
No need for us to talk to each other.

In a local tv interview yesterday afternoon, Terry Collins admitted his team has given up and "cashed in their chips for the season'. Fade em till the end.
I'm sorry but you're dead wrong. I have to agree with dereksutton, the fact that the skipper called out his team is about the best motivation that could make this team have a relatively strong finish. Now they have something to play for: showing that they have not quit on their fans. And showing that the team is not full of quitters is SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR, especially since it will carry over to the next year. How many times do fans get excited going into a season just because their team finished the prior season strong.
Probably the main argument in favor of not fading the Mets simply because of this perception that they have quit is the fact that at the end of the day these players get paid based on their performance. Probably more than in any career, baseball players are judged by pure numbers. A starting pitcher getting 3 extra wins in a season can correspond to getting an extra 3 million dollars per season on a contract. So now tell me if that's not something to play for. (Agents use any piece of information to boost their clients in order to get a higher salary for them, including GAME WINNING HITS).
So there you have it, three great arguments against your unsound theory: 1) Pride/ Competitiveness...2) Investment in fans...3) Salary based on stats.
I will actually play the Mets for the next 20 games actually. They might not win 15 games in this stretch, but I'll guarantee you they will put a much better effort than what they have been doing lately.

As will I Derek. I did not play the Rockies ore the Mets today. My point is they are bad, they are not playing well, and I will never back them. I will certainly bet against them a lot for the rest of the season though. I see there's a lot of Mets love for the Mets today in the forum which suprises the hell out of me. Throught they should know what the coach said.
On a side note: Baxter just unneccesarily tagged up on a bloop single to right and got thrown out at second. It wasn't even close to being caught. Embarrassing baseball.
