The slumping New York Yankees will turn to ace left-hander Max Fried to help snap a three-game losing streak when they play the Texas Rangers on Monday night in Arlington, Texas.
Fried (12-4, 2.62 ERA) will be countered in the opener of a three-game series by left-handed workhorse Patrick Corbin (6-7, 3.78) of the Rangers.
Fried has yet to face the Rangers in his 190-game MLB career.
In six lifetime appearances against the Yankees (all of them starts), Corbin has a 2-1 record and a 2.72 ERA over 36 1/3 innings. The loss came on May 20, when he allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings in a 5-2 setback in New York.

Toronto has lost six of its last eight contests to see its lead in the division dwindle to three games.
The Blue Jays can turn things around when they begin a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Monday night in Denver.
Left-hander Eric Lauer (6-2, 2.68 ERA) will start for the Blue Jays in the opener against Colorado right-hander Tanner Gordon (2-3, 4.85).
Gordon, who has yet to face Toronto in his career, will make his third start since being recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on July 23.
Lauer has appeared in 17 games (11 starts) and has been a fixture in the rotation since June 11. He has allowed more than two runs on two occasions in his starts -- and no more than three runs -- and is 4-1 since becoming a full-time starter.
He has faced the Rockies 12 times in his career but has struggled in those outings. He is 1-6 with a 7.58 ERA against them, and his record in Denver is worse -- 0-6 with a 12.73 ERA in seven starts.
Lauer will face the worst team in baseball but one that is feeling confident. Colorado, despite having just 30 wins, is 8-7 since the All-Star break and 6-3 at home in that stretch.

On the mound, Quinn Priester (10-2, 3.27 ERA) will make his 21st appearance (16th start) for the Brewers on Monday. The 24-year-old is 4-0 with a 3.07 ERA in July, and hasn't suffered a loss since May 13 at Cleveland.
Priester is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in two career starts against the Braves. He threw six innings of one-run ball in a 4-1 win over Atlanta on June 10.
Making his second start in an Atlanta uniform, veteran right-hander Erick Fedde (3-11, 5.33) will look to earn his first victory since May 9.
After the St. Louis Cardinals designated Fedde for assignment and subsequently traded him for cash, the 32-year-old allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings in his Braves debut last Tuesday in a 9-6 loss at Kansas City.
In eight career appearances (seven starts) against Milwaukee, Fedde is 2-4 with a 5.77 ERA. Fedde has lost to the Brewers twice this season, most recently allowing three runs in 5 1/3 innings in a 3-2 defeat on June 13.
