With all due respect he was just an opener. Not like he was going more than 2 innings.  The real stupidity is will Venable continuing to use openers. Just pick a fucking starter and go with it like most other teams do.

I understand he was an opener but why wouldn't the  manager ask newcomb which was pitching superb. How do you feel Sean? Which I'm almost certain his response would of been Oh Will I feel great. Well good. Get out there and pitch again. He could have pulled him at any moment after that if he was in any kind of trouble. It was definitely not a wise decision to take him out when he was pitching pretty much lights out at the moment if you ask me.

 AGREE  but that's will Venable thinking he's the smartest man in the room. Sox have had a great season but this guy thinking he has to micro manage everything and overthink everything.  Watched all season pull a starter after 4 innings and 70 pitches when the guy has not given up shit. Let the guy go. The number used to be and probably still is 100 pitches your done. Will number must be 75 lol. So for an opener sean was probably at 14 pitches and in wills eyes couldn't go anymore lol.  Still a fan. Have another Crack at it tomorrow

Plus will could of stuck with the Hagen Smith, Sean Newcomb dual  openers which was something that worked quite well previously in this series.

We move on and like you said Let's take another crack at it tomorrow night as the sox all seem to hit the ball better in night games to boot.
