The early picks look like everyone is pounding the favorite!!! Not so fast my friends, let's take a look at today's plays:
Tampa Bay (-101) Everyone is betting on the fact that Santana comes back to true form. Let's look at his line over the past three games.
Santana has an ERA of 9.56, WHIP of 1.750 and posts a 1-2 record. As you did deeper, he has on pitched 16 innings(avg. of 5 1/3) giving up 17 runs...all of them earned. Top that of with he has given up 24 hits(6 for HR) and has a SO/Walk ratio of 8 to 4, Santana is not the pitcher he was last year.
Shields on the other hand is 1-1 in his last three with an ERA of 3.48 and a WHIP of 1.258. Add that to the fact that he has averaged 6.9 innings per start and has 15 strikeouts and only 1 walk giving up no HR's.
Tampa Bay is the play here.
Detroit (-112) Why all the love for the Brewers? I know they played great against Cleveland, but come on Dave Bush!! He is horrible in his last three coming in with a 9.42 ERA and a WHIP of 1.814. He has only averaged 4.8 innings over his last three giving up giving up 15 runs(all earned), 18 total hits, and 4 HR's. Detroit will feed off of him.
Detroit is the play.
Cleveland(+154) Everyone feels like the Cubs have broken through and with Lilly on the mound let's pound the Cubbies. 79% ML, and 96% RL right now for the Cubbies. Yes Lilly is on a roll, but Okha's only start was a 3-1 loss to the Cardinals in which he only gave up 2 runs...2HR's from Fat Albert. He went 7 and gave up 7 hits...My opinion there will be alot of frustration from Cubs backers today at the end.
Cleveland is the play.
Good luck with all your wagers and I will see you at the ticket counter....
