If my threads upset you, then stay out of em.

Why in god's name would I do that. ALL threads are allowed to be publicly consumed and commented on by ALL covers members, even if that opinion is distasteful to you.

If you and your military buddies want to wear wife beaters and bump chests, pour beer on each other's head and light fires under each other's asses with lighters, compare badly drawn naked girl and tiger tattoos, talk about how much foreign twat you got overseas (making LT look like a saint in the process), go down to your local watering hole and do it with a bouncer at the door.

Here, you'll get a nice, fat spoonful of castor oil (reality) shoved down your gullet in a hurry when you start talking about bullets flying in my direction.

    Have a good one!

Scalabrine, Im sorry you are so miserable pal.  Too bad you cant appreciate your fathers sacrifice.  Maybe when you wake up in your parents basement in the morning with an orange dick and an empty bag of cheetos on your floor you can manage to go tell your Dad you are proud of him and thanks.  But instead you will break out your thesaurus and come up with some piss ant liberal words to reinforce that you are a real asswipe.  Keep up your internet strong willed life bud cuz you are too much of a bitch to make it in the real world anyway.

I do appreciate my father's sacrifice. He's the one that inspired me to speak out about how military hotheads like to beat their chests like Tarzan when it comes to promoting their cause and service and their attempt to justify each and every American military ever fought.

Keep talking about how I can't make it in the real world. It's people in the real world who PAY FOR ALL the salaries and benefits of soldiers right down to the shoelaces on their spit-shined boots. Unfortunately, if you're in the military, my tax dollars also subsidize your out-of-control vibrator use in your top bunk as you read your favorite "rent boy" magazines.

Dude you are retarded. You got mad because you arent smart enough to understand what he was saying by "if you dont back our troops, feel free to stand in front of them"....how big of a moron do you have to be to think that means our troops want to shoot you? scalabrine big? Yes.

I like how you have seen Platoon and Full metal jacket and now you know about what happens at war. ApacheM just told a story of how men went through similar ordeals and had a special connection. Then you turned it into your chance to tell everyone what you think. Thats good form . The story isnt even about war, but you cant seem to let people that are better than you be....This country and the idea of "war" is nothing like it was pre 1970....Now its whiny bitches like you with no pride in yourself or this country....

I like how you think you give a dose of reality.

Heres a dose for you....that piece of shit you see in the mirror every morning is fucking worthless.

Why don't we break down the statement. Who is armed here? Our American troops. If you don't stand behind them (i.e. support them) then feel free to stand in front of them (while they are and always will be armed, shooting at an enemy, making YOU the enemy). Does that make sense or do you have to hold your hand to walk you through it even further.

Go ask Pat Tillman if you can get shot by your own US 'brothers'

Army medical examiners were suspicious about the close proximity of the three bullet holes in Pat Tillman's forehead and tried without success to get authorities to investigate whether the former NFL player's deathamounted to a crime, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

"The medical evidence did not match up with the, with the scenario as described," (what a surpise! ) a doctor who examined Tillman's body after he was killed on the battlefield in Afghanistan in 2004 told investigators.

The doctors _ whose names were blacked out _ said that the bullet holes were so close together that it appeared the Army Ranger was cut down by an M-16 fired from a mere 10 yards or so away.

Ultimately, the Pentagon did conduct a criminal investigation, and asked Tillman's comrades whether he was disliked by his men and whether they had any reason to believe he was deliberately killed. The Pentagon eventually ruled that Tillman's death at the hands of his comrades was a friendly-fire accident.

Wow! The Pentagon ruled in favor of the soliders who are supposed to be defending it. Could you imagine the furor if they ruled this was a murder....by our own troops!!! Can't happen ladies and gentlemen.

Goes to show you what the average American citizen (me) thinks about the armed hotheads and why they think that way...

So when Apache tells me to go stand in front of the troops, I think Pat Tillman (and the myriad of other friendly-fire cases that have gone unsolved)

How's that for reality Bubba!!...go back to making that pinhole bigger in your mattress so you can bang it harder

I'm not the one doing the spitting...never have..

And let's make one thing clear...you said in the original post to "Stand in front of them"...that is what started my commenting string regardless of how other's on here might interpret it

Vets are a whole different animal in my book...especially the older ones (i.e. my father included) the government shafts when it comes to pensions and health benefits...it's a fucking catastrophe and always has been...men come back with no arms or legs... shrapnel in their face...what does the gov't do? Puts them in a hospital and eventually releases them back into society...these people have no fucking LEGS! How do you live after this?...I say take a nice little chunk of the bailout billions given to these blood-sucking banks and allocate it to veterans benefits...everything...education programs, employment services, pensions, counseling, community centers, and free health care for life.

BUT, that being said, the culture is very, VERY different today...the younger soldiers who come back uninjured, some who did little to nothing but drink, smoke, and screw in their time there, are lauded and praised perpetually...the problem is that it is done without discretion and they come home to these shores with pomposity and bravado as a result of that very service which infringes on the average citizen...that is where people like me step in. I think of it as a checks and balances measure. If you don't balance your integration back into peaceful society with your service, I'll put you in check.

Thanks for your service and have a good one!

I wish your parents would have had an abortion. You are the dumbest person I've seen on this site. The saying isnt for our troops to shoot you. But if you dont support them, which is the representation of our country, then you are better off dead.

Do you want me to hold your hand? Your dad was smart not wanting you to go into the military. You are the type of person that get people killed or the troops have to frag in order to save the whole platoon....

Crawl back in your hole moron.

Some great stories in this thread.

Only to have it hijacked by a couple of clowns. There was nothing political about the first post. You kids need to show respect, and stop typing in this thread.

    Wow!

I don't give a shit if that's tongue in cheek or just a cute little attempt at humor but I'll be damned if any human being tells me they'll shoot me if I don't support them.

Marine, priest, pope, lawyer, doctor, cashier, garbage collector....Any and all...for that saying alone, I respond in an equally elegant tone:

    Go fuck yourself!

I hope rats gnaw off your genitals.....so long as it doesn't hurt the rats.

Apache ... Semper Fi, my friend.

Scalibrine, the group of words that have your panties bunched is actually an old expression. When saying ..."stand behind or stand in front" is not a threat, nor does it mean you would be shot. It simply means that if you don't support the troops and the liberties that they have provided our great country through our glorious history, then perhaps you should get off your ass and provide those liberties yourself.

For you to take such a warm, heartfelt story (albeit, imo a fictional one) says a lot about the person that you are. It's a nice story, simply enjoy it.

The person I am is the person that stands up for the freedoms and expression for those who are neither truly free nor have a voice to defend themselves in any meaningful forum or fashion.

And that sir, is more effective and impactful than any gun-toting military hothead.

Now let's expose the dark side of America in Iraq/Afghanistan while we're at it shall we? Because everyone in this thread kneels at the feet of all soldiers...

Let's see what goes on in some of these Semper Fi boys spare time!!!!

Anyone have the stones to comment on that kind of conduct?

You have no idea why they were shooting the dog?  Of course you don't, you just judge by the snippet of the video that you see.  Those boys are sleeping on the dirt with fear of being shot everyday, while you sit on your computer and badmouth them.  You call out those who defend every one of our soldiers, but I have yet to see you ever support ANY of them.  You disgust me.

I badmouth the hotheads, not soldiers in general. Read above. But take note. I also have no problem exposing them if they are engaged in conduct that would get them arrested and jailed over here.

And please stop with the 'no idea' business. You'll NEVER have a HD video tape with 100% clear audio to form an opinion. I'll tell you what I see though...a mangy, pretty helpless dog, probably scrounging for food while these cowardly bastards take their firearms that could put bullets through car doors and then some, and use it to literally blow the thing to smithereens.

I wonder what their respective mom's would think if someone forwarded that video to them yesterday?

Happy Mother's day Momma! Watch me pull a Jesse Ventura Minigun Jungle Scene on this puppy!!!! Enjoy the chocolates!!!

So you took a nice little story and used it to further your cause of rallying against our troops. Interesting.

I'll point out that there are a few bad apples in every walk of life. There are bad Marines, Cops, Teachers, Gamblers, Whites, Blacks, person, Muslims and Christians.

As soon as anyone says something positive against a group which you have a problem with, you start ranting. Kinda reminds me of Hitler.

Although, your views are shared by a few others on this site ... the difference is that their hatred is towards Cops.

To hate a group of people due to their color, religion, or profession is painfully ignorant.

Anyway, you have the right to your opinion, and the right to express it here on Covers ... our Marines, and others who have served before us have seen to that. Enjoy it, Scalabrine!

I'm not American, nor am I from the USA, but I think the following words, found inscribed by an unknown British officer at a sentry box during WWII at the island of Gibraltar, applies to all soldiers:

God and the Soldier, all men adore,

In times of danger and not before.

When the danger is passed and all things righted,

God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.

Easy tiger. Come down off that Clydesdale you just saddled tossing out 'Hilter' barbs. If you ever took some time to see how I defend the non-white race (the complete opposite of your laughable Aryan-based prejudice, you would realize the err of your ways)

No one is 'rallying' against troops. I interpreted a phrase, a phrase many on here seem to be very familiar with (thank god I am not as I have no interest in being familiar with 'military-speak'), in another manner. Given my experience with some of the military back on US soil, it sounded like I should stand in front of their bullets, which is a testament to their aggression from my experience. THAT and THAT alone started all this.
