Hawk-
I really wasn't intending to stack the deck in the way I think you're seeing this. Leaders possess strengths and weaknesses which are separate and apart from ideology. Intelligence, honesty, compassion, loyalty---and countless others-- are traits which go into the mix and which people of differing ideological stripes can possess in varying degrees. The question might be somewhat provocative, but it wasn't intended to antagonize. Pick the characteristics you think are most important in a leader, other than political philosophy. I think it's an interesting experiment to see how it comes out.
I always enjoy reading your posts. Appreciate your sharing your thoughts.

No, you really can't separate those. They all are products of their "systems". In other words, their own environment which allow/teach them to show their "strength, compassion, loyalty...etc". Putin would never make it what you perceive who he is here in United States.

The stock markets have doubled, the housing market has recovered, found and killed bin laden, saved the auto industry, pushed romneycare through... His only mistake was forgetting about the greed of the 1%. If they hired people instead of hoarding all of the cash we'd be sitting pretty.
How many mansions/estates has Putin acquired since becoming president? How much Olympic money went unaccounted for?
Oh and Obama is going to get us out of two wars. He could go down as the greatest president of the modern era.
