This year La Tech get Boise St in Rustin, LA, so that means its a home game for La. Tech. They are unbeaten at home & to tell you the truth, I SMELL an UPSET here!!! Boise State is REALLY GOOD, but I think that they were a better team last year. This year on the blue turf, they struggled with Oregon (Before Oregon started to light things up) & they struggled BIG TIME about 3 to 4 weeks ago with a D2 school (Name escapes me at this time!!). I'm PREDICTING an upset here!!! DON'T FORGET, 2 years ago, La. Tech was a double digit home dog to Miss State & UPSET THEM!!

Final score: La. Tech 31 Boise St 30
Lets calm down a little, First of all Latech was a 7pt dog in the First Game of the year to a Miss st that would go on to win only 3 games vs D1 comp, those wins coming over Vandy, Mid Tenn st, and Ark(w/o mallet btw) and all by close margins
I do agree that Ruston, LA is a hard place to play, as I follow the WAC extremely close. That said Boise will pull no punches, as they are trying to secure what is probably going to have to be a 2nd at large bid, (which is unlikely to happen, but you can't stop trying)
2nd point: as however overrated you may think Boise is, I assure you it's on the offensive side of the ball, as their D can hang with the best of them, La tech's pop gun offense is likely to struggle here.
Boise wins, but do they get backdoored? they covered 3+TD numbers the last 2 weeks.....who knows, but I just wanted to clear some inaccurate statements up.
Good luck with this game if you're going to bet it!

@LRpisano: Sorry not to beat a dead horse, but you say that "Boise struggled with Oregon"? Now this is a game that many people saw, as i believe it was the first game of the year. The score was not remotlely close to what the actuall game was. Oregon could do nothing on offense they were held to 6 first downs and only 1 3rd down conversion, all the while Boise game up 3 TO's to help them.
And if "struggling big time with a D2 school" means winning by 18 with a limited offensive playbook and resting alot of defensive players agianst the coaches alma mater, all while never trailing and never being ahead by less than 10 after the first half then ok, sure they struggled big time, come on! I've been doing this WAC thing for almost 20 years now....
Im not ragging on your pick, I think Latech has a decent shot to cover, but your statements arent exatcly true....
All that said, buise has got a better shot to cover, but not enough for me to bet big on this game GL

What Mush Man said is accurate. Boise did not struggle with Oregon and actually should have beaten them by at least 3 TD's. Oregon did not have a 1st down till mid way through the 3rd quarter. Boise did allow a back door cover against Tulsa a few weeks ago and also had their RB score on a 50 yard run with 20 seconds left last week to cover the spread.
While it is true that past results show that La Tech tends to play Boise tough at home, Boise needs serious style points to stay neck & neck with TCU for a BCS bowl. La Tech has been less than impressive against the weaker teams from the WAC. In previous weeks some of Boise's players have battled the flu or have been suspended for endzone antics. Not this week as everyone is healthy. Look for Boise's receivers to carve up La Tech's secondary. I expect Boise St. to handle La Tech with ease. 45-17
I will be back closer to gametime with more info.....

I know that it was the first game of the season, BUT I DO FEEL that Boise St struggled BIG TIME against against Oregon. Let me say this, Boise's defense PLAYED INCREDIBLE, holding Oregon to NO first downs until the 3rd qtr is UNBELIEVABLE!!! The offense struggled BIG TIME!!! Boise's offense had the ball for OVER 42 minutes & could only score 17 points (Defense had a safety). Boise kept on driving & getting into the redzone & 2 out of the 3 fumbles lost by Boise was VERY DEEP in the redzone. Boise should have won this game by 3 td's or more......These are the reasons why I say that Boise struggled against Oregon!!! In another post, someone said that I stated that Boise is overrated. I said no such thing about Boise being overrated!!! I said that Boise is a REAL GOOD team, but I think that they were better last year than this year. Nothing was said about them being overrated!!!!!!!!

I have that game DVR'd and have watched it a few times. Boise did not struggle against Oregon. Check the stats. https://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=292460068 22 1st downs to 6. Their offense had the ball for over 40 minutes. They moved up and down the field. They had numerous red zone problems like bad snaps, 3 fumbles, multiple missed chip shot FG's etc. Oregon was plain awful.
Getting back to the game at hand. La Tech got seriously banged up vs Idaho last week. Make sure to check the status of Livas & Porter for Tech as both are playmakers and were injured (concussion & ankle sprain). Their D is also extremely thin.

Idaho left 21 points on the field in the 1st half against LaTech. Porter got his helmet pulled off and THEN hit the field turf with no bucket on, he will be slow on Friday. Livas has a bad toe and was tackled by Keo, got his foot rolled up and left the game with a high ankle sprain. IF Peterson wants to go for the juggler, Boise will easily cover on Friday night. Idaho kept LaTech to 6 pts in second half, and Idaho is an order of magnitude behind Boise when it comes to defense. Idaho did not BLITZ once during the game with safeties. Boise will pitch a sheep herders tent in LaTech's backfield all night, and I am an Idaho Alum and bleed black/gold. Boise will will win by 6 or 7 TD's and if LaTech is batting 0.000 by the 4th the DC will do everything possible to pitch the shutout.

Well, if you're going by history, you'd have to think that La Tech's got a shot at at least keeping it within' 3 scores, but the problem is they're catching one of Boise's best teams (of the many good ones over the past few years) at a time when they're emphasizing defense and creating turnovers as well as having that same monstrous offense that's put up almost 100 in the past two weeks.
Kellen Moore's leading the nation in passing efficiency and ESPN had to go and make this their BCS buster game of the week right? With covers just posting that article about potential BCS crashers from non big six schools ATS records from October onward.
But maybe the bigger problem for La Tech is their list of injuries right now, on both sides of the ball. It sounds like the coaches are already talking about playing a lot of freshman and younger players with next season in mind.
Tough spot for La Tech with the whole nation watching this one.
If you think those kids are just too young to know any better and see this as a big opportunity to play outta' their minds *(and not make a few frosh mistakes), I guess you take the points.
But if I play this one, my lean is towards the team with experience needing the style points and that's obviously BOISE.

Both Mush Man and Boiseter know the facts on this one.
LaTech has played Boise State tough the last couple of year at home. But with Tech injuries and Boise back to being healthy. I am going with the Broncos.

3 Words Moore/Avery & Boise Def.. LaTech Rush Def gives up 180 yards give or take. Boise rushes for 180 yards give or take... LaTech Offense is running the ball well Boise only gives up 97 yards per game. = Boise in a blow out...

Ditto. My only problem with the over is I've been getting killed lately and might not be able to scrape together the amount of dough I want to put on this. I'm seeing it at 50 right now and, as God is my witness, I like this better than any line I've seen this year in any sport and any league. But I don't see anybody talking about it. Does everybody else know something I don't? Possibly. So let me in on the secret fellas.

Im going with the over myself, prob the only play on this game for me,I think no one talks about the total cause Boise might come out on top 48-0

ALright, how anybody can use the words "Miss St" and "being upset" in the same sentence is mind boggling. NOBODY UPSETS MISS ST. THEY ARE TUCKING FERRIBLE.
and as far as Boise struggling w/OR...which game were you watching? you know what... i am not even going there. I am just shocked somebody would talk about MISS ST getting upset??? MISS ST is trying to upset every team they play every year.
Honestly, thank you, that is perhaps one of the funniest thing is have heard in a really, really long time.
you just made my night!
All fun n games bro, so dont take it personal, still laughing my azz off though
you should know better, you are a LSU fan? in the SEC West with that garbage program?

like others, from what i am reading, we all are feeling the non covering blues.......on a good note, i did cover the spread on the defensive driving course.....no points baby....
on a serious note.....like boise st and they should cover, so should temple.....this is why i am liking the over......should be scoring on both sides......lets go over and lets nuts.......
no points on the driver record........yes there is defense, but not in football......

This is the only reservation I have about going large on Boise....In the Tulsa game it was the same think move the ball up and down the field but cant get the 6, and settling for fg's. Defensively they gave up 2 big plays, (one a trick play) that accounted for 14 of tusla's 21 points. That game was not quite as close as it appeared. I stil like boise, but for a moderate play, both at the half and at the game.
If I sweep this, I'm thinking of rolling an XL bet with ND over navy...is there something that says that ND and that Double Whopper offensive line wont kill navy like they did nevada (thinking athletes are about the same quality)?

@ boiseter, you couldnt be more right, Livas and especially Porter are crucial for Latech to have any offensive success, if porter can't go, I may increase this to a large play.
