Week 1 Picks and Why

Week 0 I went 0-3 so may want to fade - nahhh, sticking with the process.    Once again first week always want to becareful.    Let's look at some numbers:

      Conn    104 95 152 85 

-24.5  Md     63 30 27 60

Md opened up at -24.5  currently 19.5 .     Since this is the first week - I only have last years numbers and this years opening lines (madduxsports.com), it's proven to work for me in the past (not so great last week) so gotta stick with what works.    

In this situation Mad is better in TOff rank Total Def rank, Sagarin rank and Sagrin sched strength.    Data from the past - indicates take home team - the points as often they cover big.    My plays for the day:

1. Md -19.5   

2. Rice -9.5

3. Ntexas +5.5

4. Unlv +3  

5. Az st -6.5

4-1 yesterday, let's look at tonight's game and some numbers:

-6.5  LSU   1 105 12 28

       USC   10 116 20 7

Line opened at -6.5 for LSU currently -4.    This game is being played on a neutral field - in Vegas.    In this situation last year numbers indicate LSU is better in Total Off, Total Def, and Sagarin rank, while USC is better in Sched strength at 7 vice 28.    When I look at games played on a neutral field (bowl games typically) - we have one similar situation, when Wisconsin played Miami and Wisc took it 34-24.  Limited data but something for me to hang my hat on.   Once again this years opening lines last years numbers.     My play:

6.   I'm rolling with LSU - 4
