Thurman is clearly the number 1 target for QB Billy Edwards. Thurman sports a 90.6 offensive rating which is top 3 in the country for tight ends. Petrino likes to put him in the slot and he is quite the mismatch. Thurman is a very physical TE and that is one of the main reasons for the play. Clemson has been just awful tackling in both games vs LSU and Ga Southern. Their defensive players take bad angles and their defense just lacks cohesion.
UNC went right to Thurman against ETSU for the first score, which was an easy TD. The game was basically over early before a rain delay, and after the delay the game just kind of went through the motions. I don’t think UNC really wanted to open up the playbook much knowing the Tigers are on deck. In what should be a close game, the Heels will dial up Thurman early and often.
