Don't like the -120...but there's gotta be easy $$ in there
BA, yes, certainly did notice. And I actually can believe it. Been planning on it really; I posted all the week 1 FBS vs. FCS sides and totals in this thread a month ago today. Been studying those Massey lines since then to prioritize which FCS teams to cap first. You know, give some due diligence to capping both sides, working out a depth chart including linemen the best I can from what's available online. Most schools you can find a participation chart with Starts and go from there. The 2015 Steele FCS preview helps somewhat too, mainly for multi year starters or seeing graduation losses. Sounds like he won't be doing that FCS online mag again this year.
As soon as I saw the first College Extra line come out a week ago Saturday and 5D had NDSU -20 and Massey has -21.5 I felt pretty confident it was status quo approach for them. Grabbed a few real good early numbers in my opinion on Saturday night when they were released. Nice to be prepared and pull the trigger early and often.
Spent part of Sunday entering in opening offshore lines as well as Massey lines & *totals to try and track results this year. Probably biting off more than I can chew from a time management standpoint. But I would like to know what an FCS team's legit ATS record is. Maybe start to dabble in extended PR#s to some FCS conferences. We'll see.
*BTW, there is one FCS vs. FBS total that is brutally off IMO based on a coaching change. If they don't make an adjustment, will have to hit it a few times.
Spreadsheet spits out the largest Massey / 5D deltas as follows:
Kennesaw State -21 / -28.5 (7.5) vs. East Tennessee State
South Florida -25.5 / -30.5 (5) vs. Towson
Virginia -11.5 / -16.5 (5) vs. Richmond
Eastern Michigan -37 / -41.5 (4.5) vs. Mississippi Valley State
UTSA -27.5 / -31.5 (4) vs. Alabama State
ULM -16.5 / -20.5 (4) vs. Southern
One other observation in doing this; Massey actually changed score predictions from 6/19 to now for 11 games. In every case, the favorite is now favored by exactly 1 more point.
Cincinnati -21.5 to now -22.5
NC State-23.5 to now -24.5
Navy -29.5 to now -30.5
Nevada -12.5 to now -13.5
Duke -34.5 to -35.5
etc. Not going to list them all.
