Great solid start to the year. I knew IU-Indy was gonna go, but that was a different level of fast. Todays card looks like this:
1* Robert Morris/Iowa Under 136.5
For years, when we thought Iowa hoops, we thought Fran McCaffreys offense and it raining 3s. Those days are gone. McCollum ran the slowest offense in the country last year, and while have a superstar in Bennett Stirtz, they are super patient and wait for a good shot. All new faces in the starting rotation for Bobby Mo. They defended rather well last year, and I expect similar efforts this year.
2*Duke Blue Devils -9.5
Texas has lots of experience, which will bode them well come January, but the talent gap for me here is too wide. Cam Boozer should get what he wants, when he wants it. Miller brought in some guys at Texas but they aren't on the same level as what Duke brought in, and returns with Maliq Brown back protecting the rim. Better coach at Duke, better players at Duke, so give me the Dookies by double digits.

A season ago, Ross Hodge was the coach at North Texas and they defended their ass' off, coming in 45th via KenPom on defensive efficiency. Defense travels, even to new schools. He brought his staff with him to Morgantown, and a couple of his guys too to build the culture. They will shoot a lot of 3s, but early in the year, that doesn't scare me too much. Mt St Marys comes off a NCAA tournament appearance, but with a lot of new faces. If they had something to hang their hat on last year, it was their defense.
1* Portland St Vikings +10.5
Until I see that Stanford has a guy that can go and get a bucket when they need one, I'll probably be fading them. I don't know where their offense is going to come from. Portland however returns their top two scores, and probably the best returning duo in the Big Sky, in Jaylin Henderson and Terri Miller Jr. Double digits is a lot of point for an experienced bunch to be getting, vs a team that has so many question marks.
I may add one a bit later, but for now, the golf course awaits. GL today everyone!
