same was said about Mizzu and Ark last night and I think they fared just fine.
Sometimes talent will simply prevail. So you picked two games where 'lack of motivation' letdown spot did not pan out. Well, I can play that game too:
St John's didn't fare to well. Outright loss as a DD fave.
Wiscy-GB didn't fare to well after their NCAA snub. Outright loss.
Canisius. DD fave. Outright loss.
Minnesota. Lucky to win as a DD fave.
Florida St. " "
I would say 3 of those team could be considered bubble teams that had a disappointing end to their seasons. Honestly, how can some of these schools be motivated for the NIT or even less 'prestigious' post season tourneys?
As for Mizzou, I would call that an utter moose for Davidson backers. Davidson simply puttered out.
Laying chalk on the 'better team' in every instance is a recipe for disaster in these post season games. I'm not saying to blindly take every dog; but there are situations where picking your spots will be profitable.
IMO, fading SMU is one of those spots vs a good Cal Irvine team. Win or lose, its an auto play for me.

You cannot compare Missu and Ark's mindset to SMU's in what went down on selection Sunday. 2 got what they probably expected, one of them got absolutely crushed.

Smu -9.5 is my only play of the night. This line will go off at least at -10 to -11. Irvine is gonna be the unlucky victim that smu takes their snub out on. When have you known coach brown to coach a team that has letdowns. Coach smith taught his pupil better than that folks. Smu 93 cal irvine 72. A world of hurt for anteater backers is coming in this affair.

I will change final score to 83-62. Either way works of hurt for anteater public faders is on deck for those who dare to go against my 10 star power play.

Don't see how SMU could be motivated after the letdown of not making The Dance. Just think it's not a good motivation spot. GL either way.
Thats what I intially thought. But, I feel that Larry Brown is just the coach that can turn disappointment to straight up anger. Plus, the only three major conference teams they played this year (Cal, Oregon, ASU) they got blown the fuc$ out by 15+ each game.

Here’s a rundown of the top snubs over the last few years, and their opening round NIT results (the opponent is in parentheses). Note that rather then just use my opinion, we will use the highest rated Kenpom teams from each season for the study.
2013: Iowa 68-52 (Indiana State) 2013; Baylor 112-66 (Long Beach State) 2012: Stanford 76-65 (Cleveland State) 2012: Drexel 81-56 (UCF) 2011: Wichita State 76-49 (Nebraska) 2011: New Mexico 69-57 (UTEP) 2010: Dayton 63-42 (Illinois State) 2010: Virginia Tech 81-61 (Quinnipiac) 2009: Baylor and Georgetown were matched up vs. one another in the opening round. Baylor won by two. 2008: Ohio State 84-66 (NC-Asheville) 2008: Virginia Tech 94-62 (Morgan State) 2007: Mississippi State 82-63 (Miss Valley) 2007: Air Force 75-51 (Austin Peay) 2006: Missouri State 76-67 (Stanford) 2006: Louisville 71-54 (Delaware State)
Not saying that this pick will hit, but the track record is VERY CLEAR!
