    Everyone on ESPN:

    "UConn is on a mission."

"UConn is a team of destiny."

    Scary for UConn backers.

It sounds like, if you've already made up your mind on UConn, you will play them regardless of any statistic, and vise versa if you're on SDSU.

I figured that. Some can't grasp the concept though. Appreciate the post anyway. I am sure 80% plus players out there would claim the coach they played for was a great motivator

    Histrionic personality disorder. It's sad

I've heard stories from players of pregame speeches and activities that Calhoun has done and theres a reason he is in the HOF because of how good of a motivator and how much he gets out of his players.

He has had only 7 Mcdonalds All Americans but has produced over 20 NBA players. Because he gets the most out of his players and develops them better than just about any coach in the country.

In 1999 everyone was laughing at the Huskies being in the national championship and were claiming it was going to a laugher with Duke rolling to an easy W. UCONN shocked the world.

Calhoun has been an underdog his whole life. Lost his father at a young age then came to UConn after being at Northeastern and took a Yankee conference team to being a prominent team in the BE and one of the elite programs in nation. He uses his own experiences and underdog mentality to motivate his team.

Ray Allen has one of the best Calhoun stories....

Ray was talking about Jim Calhoun and his Blue Collar Work Ethic. He Told a story about the time when Jim took the basketball team to a Horse Farm. And he made them watch two horses mate. Jim said, (now if you guys think your studs take a look at that Stud)

    @jpero

I would like UConn if the game was not in California. SDSU's crowd is very, very loud and they get to play in the underdog role.

and that's the deal, people go with the last thing they saw. SDSU might have also woke up after that. another meaningless post.

Thier may be more SDST fans but home court advantage hardly..

Its not like SDST has the advantage knowing the floor, the rims, ect ect,,,Both team will practice the same amount of time on the court...Slight advantage in fans for SDST,,UCONN the better team and a proven Go To Guy In KEMBA....Just My Opinion..

BOL  but my will be on UCONN..

The fans motivate the team with their energy. It has nothing to do with the actual court.

When things start snowballing, and the crowd is behind the underdog, the favorite can crumble.

5 wins in the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden in 5 days. I think that stat carries a lot more weight, especially because it refers to this year and not 10 years ago.

It doesn't necessarily say much about certain teams or past years, but it does scream one important stat, and that's the fact that it's tough to beat good teams when they have a nice home court advantage.

..yeah I feel that.... when they playing in there home court huh....was thinking the same when BYU came in there and gave them a ass beating.

I think the larger point is that college teams that travel across the team to play are at a distinct disadvantage.  Moreover, teams that only have to travel a few hours to a game are at an advantage.  Vegas is not stupid, however, and this is baked into the line.  If this game were in the middle of the country, I would suspect that SD State would be getting a few points.

This matchup is difficult to cap either way.  Two teams in two conferences that do not meet very often (same with the other mid-major vs big conference match-ups).  When in doubt, it is always best to take the points which is not an option in this one.  I will instead rely on the other rule of thumb, the best defense has the advantage.

    SD State for me.

Jim Calhoun is 7-0 in his last 7 games.  That stat is about this years team and not skewed by games from 10 years ago.

Hammer, I fail to see the logic in the theory that San Diego State is in trouble tonight because they played a bad game against Temple last Saturday. Today is Thursday, not last Saturday..
