Hey everyone,
Bad week for me last week with some close calls. Dru Brown being a couple yards away from hitting his over and my SGP, and Tyson Philpot being a few yards away as well. Not too many strong thoughts for me this week as there is definitely some uncertainty. I will do my best to break it all down.
Edmonton @ Saskatchewan (-4.5)
I like the Riders in this one. The news of Jayden Dalke's death will shake the team but that could have one of two effects: they are either slow and lethargic, or they play for him. That said, I think Edmonton is due for a fraud check. They should have crushed BC, but they are kind of tripping over their feet now. It seems like if Rankin doesn't go off, they can't seem to get going. Sask is the best team in the west, and they prove it this week. Some better numbers were missed, but I will lay it.
Pick: Saskatchewan -4.5 (-108) Fanduel
Calgary @ Winnipeg (-1.5)
Calgary has a great offense, and the worst pass D in the league. I think they are going to go on a bit of a tear though and getting Damien Alford back is huge. The WR room now has Alford, Ajou, Brissett, Philpot plus Barnes, Brooks and nevermind VA and Mills. That is stacked, and if the D can improve, this team may go on a run as Grey Cup hosts. Currently +900 to win it all on 365, I may that to my portfolio. Now for this week, it is a key week for Calgary as they look to avoid 2-5 and have a revenge for Week 1. Nevertheless, the pass D is still bad but I think they will come out prepared this week. I will be watching this line to see what we can get. Dru Brown's passing yard total feels high, but I can't trust that Calgary D.
Lean: Calgary ML (+100)
Toronto (-3.5) @ BC
I had this spot circled in red ink until Nathan Rourke was injured. This is a horrific spot for Toronto. Week 7 of travel, going back across country after Week 5 in Calgary, then back to Ontario, now back to Kelowna. I don't know if I can bet Chase Brice, but I do think he is one of the better backups in the league. And, Toronto has a very strong rush D and they will need to contain James Butler. If this steams, I will probably hit BC but until then, I am going to take the under due to the combination of backup QB and extremely tired Toronto team.
Pick: Under 57.5 (-110) Fanduel
Lean: BC ATS
Hamilton @ Montreal (-10.5)
Tre Ford shocked the world and looked competent last week! Now he faces a questionable Montreal defence and with that, this number is too high. I will be going small on Hamilton, but this number is a bit large and as I have mentioned in previous posts, numbers above 10 are rare in the CFL and difficult to cover. Considering Tre looks competent, they should be able to keep this within a TD.
Pick: Hamilton +10.5 (-105) Bet365
Best Bet:
Saskatchewan +3.5, Calgary +7.5 (-134)
I originally had Toronto instead of Calgary, but I don't want to bet on Toronto. It is just a horrible spot! Saskatchewan should come out hot, and I think we see a motivated Calgary team. 2 teams with strong motivations this week!
