Another BIG game in the CFL! Well aren't they all. Damn straight.

In 2023 SSK finished 4th in the West, EDM finished 5th out of 5 teams.

These 2 teams went thru some big off season changes. Most notable, AJ Ouellette leaves TOR and goes to SSK & Thompson comes back up North to join EDM. SSK new head coach Corey Mace is ready to give it a go in SSK. The 45th coach all time for SSK. I already posted my thoughts on EDM picking up Thompson. Teams need 2 starting QB's in this league but this team belongs to Tre Ford. I guess we shall see! I am expecting bigger things from both teams.

These 2 teams meet 4 times this 2024 season. Preseason week 2, Regular season Week 1 then again week 9 and finally week 18.

SSK played @ EDM week 1 last season. They won 17-13 getting +2.5, the game went under 45. They played again in week 5 winning @ home 11-12 but did not cover the -7 & the game went under 44. Final reg season game was week 15 were they lost 27-36 @ home giving -3 points. The game finally went over 47. They did not meet last year in preseason, like they are this year, week 2 SSK@EDM.

Apparently the first thing Thompson did when signing with EDM was to call Tre Ford and try & smooth things over. A healthy QB competition is a good thing, I just hope Mr. Ford, keeps his head up for the first half of the season. Eventually Thompson will get hurt or Mr. Ford will get traded. Chris Jones just does not like Tre Ford.

This game is a month & 3 days away. Both these 2 teams were a major embarrassment last season but I would see this line almost @ a pick'em. I prefer Trevor Harris over Thompson in this game. Tre Ford plays the preseason game & Thompson starts this game.

Last season SSK finished 7-10-1 ATS, 41.2%, 13-5-0 to the Over.
Last season EDM finished 6-12-0 ATS, 33.3%, 9-9-0 to the Over.

These game posts are just my way of getting ready for this upcoming season.

Interesting note:  SSK starts the 2024 season on the road @ EDM then they travel to HAM for the late week 2 game then finally they go home for their Home Opener.  Then they get their week 4 bye.  

EDM starts their season @ home vs SSK, then MTL & then they travel to TOR & then out to BC.  I am liking BC for that game.

SSK excluding the 2020 season would be...

2-3 SU & 2-3 ATS for their first road game to start each season.

EDM would be 1-4 SU & 0-5 ATS for their first home opener the last 5 seasons.

Obviously both teams have made some nice off season additions.

Completely different teams this year.

Can't wait.

I still like Trevor Harris over Bethel Thompson in this game.

SSK +2.5, -1.10, in the CFL always take the points!

You know my team is the Elks but I agree with you on this home opener.  Take SSK and the points till the Elks prove they aren't just a bunch of bums again this year.  Maybe they could get some of the Oilers to visit the locker room as inspiration.  Oilers don't play till Saturday so they could be in town and it would be good PR for them to attend.

Just got word that Kyran Moore has been ruled out for this game with a knee injury
