Anyone got any insights into this one? Utah State is a ten point fave...UNT has not lost to anyone by 10...in the 10 games Utah State has won, they are 7-2-1 if favored by ten...both teams can score...Utah State is 18th in passing/ UNT is 11th...on the flip side, Utah State is 83rd in pass defense and UNT is 91st...UNT has scored more than 40 in 6 games and Utah State has scored more than 40 in 8...is over 67.5 a good play here? Will Matt Wells coach in this game? Anybody got any good info on this one?

Kuechly is a big difference maker and impact player and Charles Johnson has 8.5 sacks this year coming off the edge...what I saw in that game was a physical whipping from the Carolina defense...I think it will be tough for Arizona to get points in this game...very tough... Carolina can run the ball well with Cam and Stewart... the O-Line play has been a key to their 4-game win streak...they controlled the LOS against Atlanta...yes, the Panthers lack a high-quality #1 WR but Benjamin is coming along and both he and Olsen have over 1000 yards receiving this year...they are a physical well-balanced offense... I think their D will stack the line to shut down the Cards running game and force Lindley to beat them with his arm and thus force him into mistakes...their defense is too fast and physical for a young QB to contend with on the road... Arizona 13 Carolina 38 I like the team who is at home and has won four straight, has the better QB, can run the football better and play very physical defense... Congrats to the Panther backers! The game went the way I thought it would for the most part...the rushing component (188 for Carolina and 27 for Arizona), Kuechly being all over the field and two sacks by Johnson..plus Lindley struggling (16-28 for 82 yards with 2 picks)... Jon Gruden mentioned in the first quarter how Carolina was stacking the line and forcing Lindley to throw (whether he wanted to or not)...without the muffed punt return and Cam's pick, Arizona may not have scored until the safety at the end...but it's a tribute to their team that they were still in the game in the fourth quarter...it's a crazy game and anything can happen and a few more plays by Arizona and they would have covered or possibly won...again, congrats to the Carolina backers! |

Hey guys! Hope you all are having a great year!
I have been away a LONG time (been overseas) but I am back in the States for a while and wanted to contribute my thoughts... As we know, these teams are VERY familiar with one another and nine out of the last 13 match-ups (going back to 2009) have been decided by three points or less! However, I really like the Steelers in this one. I know Bell may not play but Antonio Brown is one of the best WR's in the league and Big Ben is having a career year...we know both teams will play physical defense and the Ravens are a play-off tested team that can win any game they play in... The Steelers looked solid in their ten point win last Sunday night and have gone 8-2 their last ten (losing to the Jets in NY and the Saints at Heinz)...I don't think they will "play down" to the competition in this one...one of those ten wins was a 20-point drubbing of the Ravens in Pittsburgh... When we look at the Steelers 6-2 home record, they played down to TB and NO (both three point losses) but have won by 10, 8, 20, 17 and 7 in five of their last six home games (the sixth being the three point loss to the Saints)...they are clearly a very strong home team... With Bell (possibly) out and the Ravens strong rush defense (#4 in the NFL), I think Big Ben will loosen them up with passing early in the game...if the Steelers can soften the Ravens up a bit, they can open up the run game despite the loss of Bell...the Ravens looked awful against Houston two weeks ago and struggled to put the Browns away last week...they just don't seem as solid or dependable like the Ravens teams of the past...and, again, I think playing at Heinz is huge for Pittsburgh...I realize the Ravens could easily win this one outright but I think Pittsburgh is the play... Baltimore 17 Pittsburgh 27 Betting the NFL is crazy and anything can happen...so don't let my write-up sway you...but I think the Steelers are a pretty good play here, despite my respect for the Ravens football team... Best of luck with all your bets and I hope you make lots of |

Hey guys...hope you all have been winning big
I have been away from Covers for a LONG time (been overseas) and am back in the States for a while...thought I would add my thoughts...please don't let my write-up influence you...betting NFL games is a crazy proposition and we all know ANYTHING can happen...but this is how I see this match-up: As we know, it all starts with the QB and Lindley has really struggled the past few weeks...he is young, inexperienced and a #3 QB...so a big advantage here goes to the Panthers as Cam is a seasoned vet who has played in big games before....Lindley does not have a great running game to support him as Arizona averages 82 yards rushing a game (compared to 127 for Carolina)...if you saw the Atlanta game, you know how physical the Carolina front four is...the Carolina back seven is also very good and not many of us thought their D would hold Atlanta to three points....Kuechly is a big difference maker and impact player and Charles Johnson has 8.5 sacks this year coming off the edge...what I saw in that game was a physical whipping from the Carolina defense...I think it will be tough for Arizona to get points in this game...very tough... I think Bruce Arians is a sensational coach but I don't believe he has the horses and fire power to win this game...I know Arizona has a fine defense with Todd Bowles running it but I don't think that will be enough...if this game was in Arizona and Carson Palmer was the starting QB, I would very likely go with Arizona...but it's not! While Arizona has lost by a combined score of 55-23 the last two weeks, Carolina has won four straight by an average score of 28-11 (including blowing out their divisional rivals on the road)...on Saturday, they will not be on the road but be at home in front of their fans...this is a huge asset!...I realize they won two close games at home against TB & Cleveland (and would not have covered an eight point spread) but that won't mean a whole lot when the ball is kicked off on Saturday... I think Carolina wins big here...I think their D will stack the line to shut down the Cards running game and force Lindley to beat them with his arm and thus force him into mistakes...their defense is too fast and physical for a young QB to contend with on the road...if Carolina gets a lead and Arizona has to become one-dimensional, it will get ugly like it did in Atlanta because Lindley will wind up on his back like Matt Ryan did...I think Cam and the Panthers are very hungry and will feed off the crowd... Arizona 13 Carolina 38 Again, anything can happen and I could be 1000% wrong so don't let me influence your play...but I see a lot of mismatches here...and football is a game of match-ups and adjustments...and I like the team who is at home and has won four straight, has the better QB, can run the football better and play very physical defense... Hope you win all your bets! Best of |

Ugly performance by the 49ers...they had their chances in the first half but Sullivan had a pick and a fumble while they were on the march...a Raider returned punt swung the momentum and SF never recovered...
Bad call on this one..should have known better than to bet on a bad team on the road featuring a new offense...
Congrats to the Raiders and Over backers!

Over was looking very good early on as there was a lot of 1st half scoring...but six points in the second half = ....
I know better than to play totals! At least they were very small plays!
Congrats to the Under backers and the Pittsburgh backers!

Personally, I don't think Tavaris can play in this League...at least not as a quality NFL starter...Gus could play once upon a time but Father Time has caught up to him...Brooks Bollinger, no way...Booty may be a decent QB one day...
I think the wrong team is favored...
HAWK TOTALS: 24-31 - 257 -3 TD's- 0 TD's
VIKE TOTALS: 22-38- 268- 1 TD-1 INT Seattle +3 (game)

Also, Holmgren's system is designed to manufacture points and control the clock with the dink passes (short curls, hooks and come-backs)...they sucker up the safeties and then attack deep..I think the wrong team is favored...
Ol' Scorp will roll with:
Seattle +3 (game)
Seattle +135 (Monelyline)
Seattle +9 (2 team six-point teaser)
Good luck, men...time to make the doughnuts!!!

Since I am LOUSY at picking totals, I will take a flyer on the over as the over seems to be a thread consensus....so I might as well take a shot... OVER 33.5 (s/up) and OVER 27.5 (2 team 6-point teaser) Good luck, men.....make that preseason cheese!!

I like San Fran +1.5...the line has gone down a point and a half the last hour or so...lots of late $$ on the red and gold...
I think Martz will be very aggresive wit his play-calling through all 4 quarters and the QB troika of Sullivan, Smith and Hill will be asked to throw the ball a lot...Raiders do not have the offensive depth and firepower to match at this juncture...
Ol' Scorp is going to roll with:
San Francisco +1.5 (game)
San Francisco +100 (Moneyline)
San Francisco +7.5 (in a 2 team 6-point teaser)
It's presason so every bet is risky (and, frankly, somewhat foolish given all the variables and incalculables)....but what the hey, fellas...it's only money!!
Good luck, men....let's make that preseason cheese!!

Congrats Washington and the over backers....I was late getting my play in and did not wager...would have played the under though so I got lucky by not playing...I should know better than to play totals as I am simply horrible at them... I am guessing you did great at baseball this year...I should have played on baseball but it is such a daily GRIND and I spent most of my summer at the gym... I am going to take it very light and easy on NFL Preseason, fellas...I will tease and do s/up bets only...as the regular season arrives, I will be a lot more adventurous...I am going to TRY to be more cautious and conservative this year (yeah...right!! LOL)..and just make a couple of units every weeks (the quintessential "death by a thousand cuts") .. Good luck on your plays, everyone...I don't think it will be a real exciting game but it will be fun to watch anyway!

Good to see you on the threads to, Colonel Jim! That is a great point TSW...I agree with you but was reticent to play on Indy as Lorenzen just signed and may not know a lot of the offense (and his mobility is always a concern) and Quinn Gray is a unknown commodity (at least to me)...I figure Coach Zorn won't hesitate to have Colt sling the rock around a lot in the second half in hopes of securing his first NFL win in his coaching debut... Should be a close one....and taking the Colts in a a 6 point tease (+12 or +13) may in fact be a lot "safer" than Redskins (pk) or (-1)... Anyway... good luck tomorrow, everyone!

Hey fellas...hope you all have had a great year! I have not laid a bet since the Bowl Games last year and passed on basketball and baseball this year...hope you all made a mint!
Well, on this one, if I do anything I will play a small teaser....on NFL Preseason games I like to tease more than usual as there are so may variables and incalcuables...I would play a 2-team six-point teaser
Washington + . 5
Under 39
With limited exception, betting on Preseason games is Ru$$ian Roulette...we all know how the Colts and Coach Dungy approach these games and this contest means more to Coach Zorn in his debut...the back-up players at the RB and WR positions aren't particularly strong for either team so there may not be a lot of points scored down the stretch...I think this is the "safest" bet...
Have a great year everyone! See you on the threads!!

I am not betting any play-off games but here is my two cents (and it's not worth even that much!)...
Seattle +7.5 (and they may even win the game straight-up)...
Over 43 (two offenses that know how to manufacture points)
Good luck everyone! Go make that cheese!!

I am not betting any play-off games so I don't have my money where my big mouth is BUT...
I just think all you guys taking Jacksonville are going to be saying to yourselves "What was I thinking?" after two quarters and four quarters of football (sorry bigdaddy!)...
Jax just doesn't have the WR's or the DB's to keep up with these guys...it will get ugly early and often...this isn't the Pittsburgh Steelers they are playing...this is the 16-0 Patriots on their home field and they are a team on a mission...the Pats will shake, rattle and roll the Jags...
Patriots 41
Jacksonville 17
Good luck, everyone! Go make that cheese!
