i have to disagree with you 100% here, i love it when there isnt parity in the tennis game. I like having the best 4 guys reach the semis every grandslam. i wouldnt have it any other way.... And im pretty positive that tennis ratings are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy higher when the big 3 are in the finals (federer, nadal or Djoker) so you might be the only one that finds that it might be boring...
i agree 100% that when the top 3-5 players are reaching the semis and obviously the finals every year, it is much better for the game.
2 of the best men's finals in the last 20-25 years occurred when the top 2 players met in the finals. (08 wimb and 12 aussie final that we just watched)
09 aussie with nadal and fed was an incredible first 4 sets, although set 5 was bad
07 wimb was a great 4-5 setter between nadal and fed
the only exception to this was in the 09 us open when lower seeded Del Potro took Fed to 5 sets and beat him
other than that, the most exciting matches late in the majors have almost been exclusively the top 2-3 players in each one
