Wow! I came back to check on this thread, and I see I'm getting a ton of love from my covers brothers lol!
A special shout-out to Vito and Umirin for having my back. Appreciate that. Look, I'll be the first to admit I'm not crushing any book betting sides or totals. The truth is, I don't gamble much on either. I'm smart enough to know I don't have the edge to beat the books. I'm not a sharp. I play daily fantasy and do much better, for a plethora of reasons; the first being, I can find and edge against other players, I can't against the books. That being said, I was simply sharing my own humble opinion on betting bball totals. I didn't say my theory was right. There's not a single person on this thread that can tell me (or anyone else) how to beat the book playing totals. If you were, you wouldn't be on this thread, you'd be too busy counting your mounds of cash. Someone just tell me this. If by betting the over, you cover the 0 and 00 numbers on the roulette board, how is betting the under not giving the house and edge... assuming you are not on the sharp side, which 96% of guys in here aren't. By my logic, betting the under, OT can kill you. Betting the over OT can never kill you. |

Not to mention, trying to watch a game you've bet the under on is like going to the dentist to get a filling: there's nothing fun about it, and it always hurts.
Obviously there's no sure-fire strategy to betting totals. But my personal rule is, always bet the over if I like the number. Even if I don't like the number and feel like gambling, bet the over. In summary: only bet the over. lol |

Never bet the under when playing totals. It's a simple rule. If you HAVE to play totals, pick over plays only. Think about it, over-time is like 0 and 00 on a roulette wheel, gives the house the edge if you're betting unders.

Yeah I had a prop on Lynch MVP. 5 to 1. If he punches it in there, done deal.

It's a common reaction when extremely uncommon events occur. In this case, one in a billion events like Seattle turning the ball over there.
People did the same thing with the Sandy Hook massacre... "it was all a conspiracy, it never happened." smh. Even with 9/11. "Again, conspiracy, Bush administration planned it." People need to explain the unexplainable, so they resort to shear stupidity. Never ceases to amaze me.

The crazy thing about this ending is, I count 5 things that HAD to happen for this outcome:
1. StL had to shoot the ball with enough time left on the clock for UMass to drive down and score. They did, sort of. 2. The ball had to bounce off the rim out to the perimeter, it did. It bounces in any other direction and this doesn't happen. 3. UMass had to get the rebound, they did. 4. The clock had to freeze for about 2.5 seconds, allowing the UMass guy enough time to score on the other end. It did. 5. The UMass guy had to make the layin as time expired, he did. The odds of this happening as a prop bet are probably 10 Billion to 1 LOL!!! |

I had StL +3. Was obviously on the right side of this game. But, you know, clocks just freeze up for almost 3 seconds all the time right?? hahaha!! I caught it on youtube, check it out here:

Can't remember the last time I've gotten burned this badly on a total bet. I LOVED the under at 42. My book was late moving it to 41. I figure weather plus sharp action was pushing the line down.
7-3 at the half. Feeling VERY good. 7-6 end of 3rd q. Already handicapping my afternoon play with the winnings. I LOVED Seattle getting 3 points at SF. 12-7 to start the 4th. No biggie. They even missed a 2-pt conv. 15-12 with 2 minutes left. That's fine. Game is over. Game-changing penalty called. Game would have been over. 4 TDs in less than 2 minutes. I'm done betting on NFL for the rest of the season :D |

You gotta be kidding me. The only reason this over hit is because of that SF fumble. The under was totally safe. WTF is this bullshit. How do the books always win?
Anyone want to make some easy money? Just bet the opposite of what I play. I'm on a 2-10 cooler and it ain't ever gonna end with absolutely bullshit like this. The under was the play. friggin sorry-behind SF turnover. Unreal. |
