Thoughts on hedging the second part of a parlay (if second game is later than first one obviously)
in General Discussion
I get all of that...but when you have a parlay in that can lose you over $500...I can bet enough to not make the the extra juice affect my bankroll if the first game hits. Regardless of what the site is getting, once the first game hits I can GUARANTEE that my bankroll doesn't take a one cent hit. With that no loss guarantee, I have a shot at taking home the profits of the parlay minus the protecting bet. ESPECIALLY when the protecting bet is something like +120 and up, I can guarantee a no loss situation after the first bet hits for a very cheap price, not giving two stuffs what the site or whatever takes.

So right now I am in a situation that I have always gone back and forth on. Here is the situation:
-As of right now I have the braves and the reds over 7.5 parlayed with stl cardinals ml (braves started at 7, stl starts at 8). At this moment it is 2-2 in the braves/reds game in the top of the second. I DON'T WANT TO TOUCH THE MONEY BUT, this parlay is to win a very sizable amount of money and I am considering taking the cubs (+116 ml, I really only consider doing this when the line is on the + side of things) in order to protect the second part of my parlay. This would guarantee I cannot lose money, but would also obviously take a portion of my profits away. I am looking for anyone and everyone's thoughts on these situations. Do you all protect the second part of the parlay, and why do/don't you?

No, I don't think thats right. First of all this is betting, the whole thing is you do not know what the result will be. Essentially it's just another bet, but on the other side. Secondly, it was 2-2 after the first inning in a game with two stacked offenses. The odds for that game going over at that point are huge (its now 6-4 in the top of the 5th btw). Anyone else?
I didnt end up doing it and the cards are down 3-0 going into the bottom of the 4th. I am not overly concerned as I have been betting for a while and have seen alot of crazy stuff (not that overcoming a 3 run deficit is crazy), but when the parlay is for a large amount of money and the protecting side of the bet is +, I am starting to think it's very much a great bankroll management tool.

Did not mention this--but if you didn't figure it out, I would bet enough money on the cubs ml to cover the amount wagered on the parlay.
