I disagree about states rights blanket approach, it has to be PROVEN by results not some historic generality in MUCH different circumstances. An alternate solution is not plausible if the outcome is not better...so yeah I am all for considering other means of accomplishing tasks, but show me why it is better..not because the constitution or Jefferson or founding fathers..thats just media speak..show me how NOW that provides better results, lower costs than the feds AND flows with the other states and feds at the same time.
Isolationism is a horrible idea, just awful. Me saying this resulted in you auto labeling me that therefor I am in support of all our military conflicts..if you have been in this area for a while you would know I am the exact opposite of that. I am not a blind supporter of anything. But that said I am also not a reactionist like you are. I do not go to the other side of the spectrum when I dislike something.
I do think we are too active in the middle east, I dont think that is a general observation..that is really due to Bush and his decisions and Obama is carrying over those decisions...plus the military is not elected, so the top military officials during Bush are probably still in place now, maybe a person here or there but the general framework is likely the same...so the mindset is the same. It hasnt been since Clinton that our military was less active. I like how Clinton approached the military actually.
Isolationism is good for Guam, go live there...you choose to live in a complex country who carries great responsibility, we cannot be France and avoid decisions, turn a blind eye and wait for someone else to bail us out. If we do what the Pauls are suggesting, the result will be a large multiple worse in loss of life and cost..it is reckless and moronic to do what they propose. That does not mean I support what Bush did as I just said, but I for sure do not support doing NOTHING as they suggest. They seem to love the nothing approach..give the decisions to some unknown and unquantified other parties and their job is done.
I dont think the founding fathers given the scale and complexity of this country and world would turn into isolationists as the Pauls are, but you know they LOVE to use outdated examples to push their quasi libertarian viewpoints so guys like you lap at their absurd suggestions.
Sorry for the late response. I have been dealing with serious medical issues.
The men whose viewpoints that you admire are the true phonies. The Paul’s are outcasts because that is how they seriously think. It isn’t an act. Their mindset comes from historical curiosity.
You would consider me a phony, as well, if I ran for office. I have multiple political viewpoints. How are having multiple political viewpoints phony?
Well, in order to provide better results. The current structure must be systematically broken down - one brick at a time. The CURRENT structure has been PROVEN to be a FAILURE!
The best course of action is to go back to the original state and build from there. That is the plan of the Paul’s. Show me a better idea than that.
You’re incredibly ignorant if you believe isolationism will result in loss of life. That is the stupidest argument. The point of isolationism is to save lives!
The end of the neo-con agenda would save American lives. The end of the drug war would save race relations and save millions of lives.
The Paul’s want to save American lives by ending all these nonsensical wars. You want to see civilians needlessly killed. You want to see coffins draped in American flags.
I want to save lives, not take lives. People with your mindset are responsible for 9-11, the rise of Islamic terrorism, gangs, drive by's cartels, poverty, bad neighborhoods, deplorable schools, race riots etc...
I asked you what my friend and cousin died for in post 101. You never answered. They both were killed because of people with your mindset.
I asked you, since you firmly believe in the causes, which must mean that you are willing to sacrifice your life, as well, as your loved ones for the cause, right?
You support the drug war and war on terror, why? What is it that people are fighting and dying for?
