Renewable is fringe at this point and not as important to keep the country going as other mainstream energy. It is a myth that nearly all people care that much about it. People just want cheap energy; most could care less about the details.
Yes those are good examples. But Dow being bad for environment is unnecessary to say. They get fined, etc. same as any company for it.
The delineation needs to be made between lobbying and benefit the politicians receive from doing their bidding.
I understand lobbying (not really for it) and subsidies (not for them at all).
I am not saying it clearly enough I guess. I am always hearing that politicians don't care about the folks---they just do the corporations bidding. That is nonsense to me. The folks vote. If I was a candidate, and this was the case, I would run on exposing where my opponent had caved in, or switched his opinion, because of this. If enough of this were proven these guys would never get reelected. I get so tired of hearing people say all politicians are bad and all politicians are the same; they are not. That is a jaded view is all.
For example, we vote in Jones, who ran on a proMJ agenda and at local and state level had always been proMJ. Then when he is voted in he swings his influence to antiMJ because big pharma got to him, like all of these guys claim they want to do to keep it illegal. That is what I mean. I am talking about these folks that just seems to want to be disillusioned and negative about politics. Always sounds like sour grapes to me. My guys lose all the time and then when they win do things I don't agree with all the time. But I never say the corporations got to them.
I understand difference like Obama's sticking with some of Bush's war plans, etc after he ran on anti war and all. Because he got new info and stuff and changed his mind.
I also understand lobbying groups 'pleading' their case---even on both sides. But never see guys that switch because of it. Maybe they were on fence and one group made a better case than the other? Maybe the other side should do a better job of making their is all. Just because I want something from my guy and don't get it doesn't mean the crop got to him.
Am I still jumbled up on explaining it? Maybe, but I say others are jumbled up by making a blanket statement and saying, especially the president, does the bidding of the corps. If I was a corp on other side, I would for sure expose it.
If you feel that it is so prevalent. Can't say where it started. Can't say who does it. Can't say when it happens. Can say how often it happens.
Then what would you suggest to fix it? Besides voting for fringe candidates that we think aren't under the influence of corps or wouldn't be if elected?
