Hello Double Up and All - I submitted the below post to another forum on Covers and thought I would share it here...Without further ado...
Dear Penthouse Forum - I am a college student at a large Midwestern university. I never believed this would ever happen to me...
Wait, this is a post about football...
I live in Western Colorado and, to be perfectly honest, am much more of a college football fan than the pros. But I have a television that often airs ESPN, occasionally it airs the local news and sports and I have lots of friends who are rabid and myopic (is there any other kind of Bronco fan?) Denver Broncos fans.
Manning is a class act. However, his skills, and more importantly is health, are in decline. We all know what he did the last two seasons in Denver, so I will not review. But, I can tell you, the "quadriceps injury" they reported after the Bronco season ended against Indianapolis was smoke and mirrors. And they never let Osweiler see the field.
In fact, Manning's neck is bothering him again and it will likely sideline him midway through the season, or after a few big hits. Look for Denver to be competitive in the first 4 to 6 games, but with the tough schedule, and the Manning neck injury, they do not make the playoffs. Osweiler does not have the experience to compete at this level.
Vegas knows this and the oddsmakers are laughing all the way to the proverbial bank every time a Homer hits Denver at -185 or so.
As for the rest of the AFC West, a futures bet on Oakland is simply a waste of money. So, in my view, the West comes down to the Bolts and the Chefs (misspelling intended). I am quite confident the Bolts will continue to be the Bolts and fold up their tent in the most critical game(s) of the season. Yet at +440 or so, they may be good value.
The Chefs, I think, are probably the best bet in the West and at +380, or so, offer very good value. In fact, I hit the Chefs a few days before the news about A. Gates being suspended broke.
If you don't like gambling, place equal amounts on the Bolts and the Chefs and you will cash one of those tickets in January, and make money.
There you have it. One man's view from above the fray. Fade or follow but best of luck to all this season
