I love to play 4-5 team parlays with the final leg as a stand alone. I ALWAYS HEDGE. The objective is to make money, don't listen to the degenerates who say "let it ride". Also play the futures so you can still have an interest in a team without living and dying by a point spread. I've seen so many bad beats, back door covers and garbage, it will make you lose sleep, like you are cursed!! There is usually some value in mid season when a dark horse has a path to the playoffs. (ATL, GB and NYG in NFC this yr).
I'm a degenerate who says let it ride... Well, I don't play parlays but if I did I'd never plan on hedging going into it. When you hedge the last leg, you're essentially paying the "juice" on both sides...
Doesn't make much sense.
I know this topic has been beaten to death here but apparently there are still proponents of hedging. Please breakdown the math that says hedging the last leg of a 5 teamer is better than just betting a 4 teamer instead...

That's the positive about forums such as these...the sharing of tips and tools of the trade. I've been doing this for about 5 years, and by no means an expert, but I have learned a few things:
1. Discipline on number of games played. I use to fire on at least 5/6 games every Sunday. I've since limited my plays to one's where I really feel I have an edge (usually 2-3 per week at most).
2. Read, read and read some more. Throughout the week I'm constantly reading from the local news sites regarding injuries, motivation factors, etc.
3. While the forums can be great for sharing perspectives and insights, it can also sway one to bet on a game they wouldn't have otherwise. I use to fall into this trap many times "if so many people on the forum like this side, I should play." Go with your instinct, do your own homework...it's much more enjoyable.
