Scal, just got home from a job interview! Wish me luck, friend, cause I really want out of this gambling business. Anyway, I wanted to offer a counter to some of your points and hear your response:
1) The NBA does not care about this series (or extending it) as much as the others (and its got some good ones going). The only thing they care about is getting a Nets/Heat matchup. Toronto is not even on their radar and the refs will call this game 50/50.
2) You can't apply the "happy getting a split tag" to the Nets here. Circumstances are way different. First, you have an older team that knows the importance of trying to finish off an opponent quickly. The longer the series goes, the more chance of injury, fatigue etc...
If these guys go all in and win tonight, they probably won't have to come back to Toronto, but if they split, they will.
3) And this is related to the previous point. The Nets are not competing with the Raptors of the world, but with Miami. And when they look at the Miami series what do they see? A sweep, most likely, because of big Al's injury. Another motivating factor for winning now, instead of waiting for game 5, where they probably will not be as rested as they are now, which could then mean a game 6.
wow I just read this after I wrote my comment.... couldn't agree more.
Just from a basketball stand point alone. Toronto really just doesn't match up with the Nets at all. The Nets have them corned IMO. This is a badazz crew right now.

I been saying Brooklyn is coming for the last 3 months bro....
and they are coming.... its not like I'm big on them cuz of one little win.
60%+ on Toronto line moved from -5 to -4..... loving it...
Toronto doesn't MATCH UP WITH THEM. Period. J Kidd picked this schedule. They get 2 days rest between the first 2 games..... they banged them game 1 where they couldn't shoot for shiit (brooklyn missed 15 wide open 3 pointers lol).... then they went home saw their families got the rest they needed now they bang them here tonight.... cuz they are a MUCH better team. They smell blood. Especially with Miami looking like a Sweep now catching their usual lay ups with Al Jefferson crippled now Charlotte has very little chance to make this interesting.
Nets are a different class and different caliber.... especially in this playoffs setting. Toronto blew their load with that corny azz public gathering in front of their stadium with their herb GM yelling darn brooklyn.... they just keep digging their own grave.
Wide open? You better go back and watch that game again.
The nets were missing 3 pointers because they had no offensive options inside and the Toronto defense was playing them step for step.
And to sit here and say "60% 4 to 5" is ludicrous:
#1 Because it's a hard sell to say the public is backing the raps at this number. The books are on the raps IMO.
And #2 - even if it is 60% public on the raps that's not like it's some extreme public position to be 'lovin' it' where the books are taking on major liability to care.
Everyone knows about the nets. That is why their 'win the finals' odds (a laughable ticket to buy) has been dropping like rain. This is not news. The nets had the biggest blockbuster trade in the offseason and
Have the highest payroll + luxury tax In the history of the league. They also have the best record in the east since January first and first ballot hall of famers playing for them and coaching them.
This a a public's wet dream. And we all know they are better. The raps were trying to dump this season and ended up with 48 wins because players do not tank.
This spot, this game favors the raps - the points though as I have it capped. The series? I wouldn't be surprised if the nets won. They should after last year's embarrassing debacle. But it's about game 2 here. Nothing else.

Of course you agree!
If you are going to back the nets how could you not!
I wonder how the Nets matched up at center when Valanciunas outplayed KG/Blatche/and Plumlee combined.
And I could go through the other positions but why? You are already convinced!
Let the game play out and determine who was on the right side.

The spot in the game does NOT AUTOMATICALLY favor the raps.... this isn't a back to back in the regular season that doesn't mean that much. Brooklyn maybe treating this as a close out game.
Because.... one more time.... Brooklyn picked them.... Brooklyn understands this spot better than the Raps do. Brooklyn has other motives behind this. And Toronto does not match up with them. I feel much more comfortable backing the Bulls tonight than the Raps.
I saw the game.... you blindly hate on the Nets. Nets defense is on level, their half court set is on another. Toronto shot 38%. I guess that was all jitters.... the Nets had nothing to do with that. Gotcha. ok.
And once again they're not a big public play.... Toronto is who the public is leaning on tonight.

Anyone on Brooklyn for the sweep is completely incompetent. Raptors win tonight and steal 1 if not 2 in BKN. Raptors and OKC only two teams in top 10 offensive and defensive efficiency. The nets fluked out game 1 with serious help from some refs. And I've had enough of people saying that the NBA wants BKN to face Miami next round... the raptors have the most expensive playoff tickets in the NBA not to mention the backing of and viewership of an entire country. I'm with scal on this one. Brooklyn backers your rubber chicken is comin... hopefully the noose tied around Ur kneck isn't tied too tight, wouldn't want you to miss the absolute domination the raptors will exhibit tonight.

Good luck, Scal. I have the Nets for the series parlayed with the Clips, so I'm not betting on this game tonight. BTW, league issued an apology for the Rocket's last game (the foul against Howard). Does this mean what I think it means? The last time the league did this (two days ago) the team that got the short end of the deal (the Clips) won in a blowout! If my man, Rodney Mott, is officiating tomorrow in that game I'm unloading on the Rockets.

I can see the league wanting that one going 7. Thats an up and down shoot out every game.
Scal.... Like I've been saying. The nets are not a cappable team. I just watch these dudes.... they are long as shiit, all shoot very well and have the same type of lock you down choke you out and turn you over defense as Miami does. Theres not much to write about in terms of capping and why this and that.
I'm very aware of Toronto. Toronto is a solid crew. They have been pressing the gas pedal and hitting that the extra gear in the 4th quarter. i've been impressed by how they have been closign out games especially agaisnt good teams. But this nets crew was sand bangging over half the season. We haven't seen the true potential it's only starting to show up now. These guys are seasoned they understand the moment and they are playing with a different motivation.... this is an uncappable spot like I said. The Nets length is a huge problem.
And yes i agree with you Valanciunas is the one match up Toronto can possibly exploit. Other than that I dont see anything. Kinda like in the Bulls series. The Wiz are simply better man for man in thier starting 5.

I really don't hate on the nets! I don't care to. I dog on the Knicks and nets and if you read my threads you'll see I defame the Knicks by leaps and bounds over the nets.
There is no favoritism here. On capping and money and this is a bad side for the nets, as I have it capped. Of course you disagree. I expected you to! That is why I serenaded you in the OP! If you think the nets were sandbagging it for most of the year you are sadly mistaken. This was the WORST team in the league after the bucks and through about a quarter of the season (Knicks included in there).

Tou deserve a win here for the fans. Love those fans. 10,000 strong outside! Wow. Never saw such a thing...

Yes! And it's an ideal spot for a HOU blowout obviously....

Scal the Nets shot 1-50 from 3 and that's not happening again. I think Gene said it all for me. There is no spot because they had a couple days off which is a huge benefit for the Nets. The Nets are just too long and and nobody turns the opponent over better than them. Raps had 17 turnovers, that isn't changing tonight. Man o man I'm salivating at Nets ML. You continue to underestimate just how good this team is and the only team that can beat them is Miami. Raps will be lucky to get one win and if they lose tonight it'll be a sweep. I don't see any real advantages on the court for the Raps and if Deron plays well the Nets always win. They have the best back court in the league which causes huge mismatches for every team they play because of their size.
Great write up and conversation as usual. May the better bet win.
As always I wish you the best as you are a real asset to the site.

Blah blah blah, blah... Nets have the better talent and roster and coach for his first year... And raptors are notorious for crapping at home they have been all year...
Nets moneyline
Now will the east coast craptors will do is win the first game away .. Bcuz well that's what the east does win the game u don't expect them to. ..
Gd luck with that, nothing personal.. You do have hitters most the time..
