Love In N Out, though hardly ever get to go to one. We actually have a Fatburer here in Pittsburgh (Wexford), but I've never been.
We also have a place called Tesarro's that's as good as any place I've ever been burger-wise, but it's a little more of a sit-down place. Same with Port 'O Call in New Orleans, which I'm not sure survived the Flood.

I can't say either is better. I love a Fatburger with egg and cheese. Nothing beats that. But In-N-Out is fantastic as well. Depends what you're feeling. If I'm starving, I'll go Fatburger.

But my favorite burger joint in LA is The Habit. On the corner of Sepulveda and National.
Man, you must have lived in the westside once upon a time. Not a big fan of that place for some reason. Is there something they specialize in over there? I usually go with a cheeseburger, but everytime I go there, I think its worse than McD's.

Gee, this thread makes me eager to visit In-N-Out again soon. That closest one to my home is only 1.5 miles away. #1 combo: Double-Double burger, fresh cut fries and vanilla shake.

I had forgotten about this place. I first went to one of these about 20 + years ago and I don't know if they are too many anywhere else other than N CA. They use the best beef for their burgers. their buns are the best because they are hot and fresh. They have a ton of toppings so you can choose your toppings and put them on. This is the best in CA, maybe Nation's is second. In n' out is good but they have a smaller burger. And their fries people either love 'em or hate 'em.

I lived on the westside for 10 years. Redondo, Venice and Holmby Hills.
I use to live about a block south of The Habit. Would eat there 3 times a week. Sometimes would hit the Apple Pan as well.

Friend convinced me to go to In and Out today..have to say it was very average and just so-so.
Had a single with no BIG MAC sauce but with mustard, fries and got a choc shake for the kiddo..ran me 8 bucks and the fries were cold within 5 minutes.
It is just ok, I dont go out of my way to eat there but the place was semi clean, good layout and the food was OK..better than some, not as good as others.
I dont get the big hoo haa about In and Out, I wont miss it when I leave the area.

Sonics advertises a lot in the Bay Area like on Espn channels, but I have never seen one here, which is odd. I haven't looked into but I'm sure the spots are on their website. The smoothie drinks and some of the desserts sound good from the commercials.

they're just national ads.. the closest Sonics are Woodland/roseville or Stockton/Tracy area. Another place they keep having commercials for is Ruby Tuedays -- again in Woodland area.

There's going to be a Sonics a few blocks down the road from Arco Arena in the Natomas area, north of I-80 on Truxel Rd, close to Chris Webber's restaurant. Not sure how building progress has come along, but I'm thinking in less than a year's time it'll be up and running. It is across the street from Wal-mart and Chili's, where a lot of good eateries are at.
I should add, there is a Nations down there in Tracy. When I'm heading back from San Jose via 280, that's where I make my food stop. You can't miss it, it's right off the freeway on your right. Look it up the next time you're heading back from the south bay.
