Blackhawks' Hossa could play Friday vs. Sharks

Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa, who has eight goals and six assists in 16 games, practiced Thursday after taking a forearm to the back of the head earlier this week and could play Friday against the San Jose Sharks.

Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford and defenseman Brent Seabrook also returned to practice Thursday. Seabrook will play Friday, and netminder Ray Emery will make his fourth straight start between the pipes as Crawford still isn’t ready for game action.

Chicago can set a new mark for consecutive games to start a season with at least a point, by picking up a win or sending the game to overtime. The Blackhawks could break the current tie at 16 straight games with the 2006-07 Anaheim Ducks, who went on to win the Stanley Cup that season.

Chicago has beaten the Sharks twice this season by scores of 4-1 and 5-3. The home team is 6-1 in the last seven meetings and the under is 7-1-1 in the Blackhawks’ past nine home games.

Chicago is an early -130 favorite and oddsmakers have set a total of 5.5.
