Steven Stamkos (4 points) leads Lightning past Toronto

Ondrej Palat had two goals and an assist, Steven Stamkos had a goal and three assists as the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3 on Thursday night.

Taylor Raddysh added a goal and an assist for the Lightning, who have won five straight. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare also scored. Alex Killorn added two assists. It was the 400th career win for Lightning coach Jon Cooper.

Ondrej Kase scored twice and William Nylander once for the Maple Leafs. John Tavares added two assists.

Andrei Vasilevskiy made 35 saves for Tampa Bay.

Jack Campbell stopped 22 shots for Toronto.

The game was tied 2-2 after one period.

Kase scored on a power play at 1:44, 13 seconds after Raddysh was penalized for tripping. Kase put the puck in from the edge of the crease after it was knocked off Tavares' stick.

Bellemare scored his second goal of the season at 9:57 on a pass from the left wing by Corey Perry, who stole the puck in the neutral zone.

Stamkos slapped a rising laser from the high slot for his 13th goal this season on a power play at 12:16. The puck came to him after Kase deflected a clearing attempt with his glove. Wayne Simmonds was off for slashing.

Nylander scored his 12th goal at 19:53 on a power play on a screened shot from above the right circle. Stamkos was off for crosschecking.

Tampa Bay scored twice in the second period.

Palat scored his eighth of the season at 4:01 on a pass from Stamkos on a 3-on-2. Palat tried a goalmouth pass to Raddysh, but Nylander deflected the puck into the goal.

Raddysh scored his third goal of the season at 9:11 from the slot after Stamkos pounced on a turnover.

Kase scored his eighth goal on a rebound at 9:36 of the third period.

Palat scored into an empty net at 19:31 of the third.

Tampa Bay was without Anthony Cirelli (upper-body injury).

Toronto was without Mitchell Marner (shoulder), Travis Dermott (shoulder), Rasmus Sandin (knee) and Jason Spezza (suspension).
