Last Meeting ( Nov 6, 2018 ) Anaheim 1, Los Angeles 4

The Anaheim Ducks look to build on their best offensive performance of the season and earn a fourth win in five games when they host the Pacific Division-rival Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night. The Ducks, who are last in the league in goals per game (2.26) and sit double-digit points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference, rolled to an 8-2 victory over Montreal on Friday.

“It’s been a tough year, certainly,” Anaheim center Adam Henrique told reporters after scoring two goals Friday. “It’s more fun to win. At the rink, everything is more enjoyable. Everything away from the rink is more enjoyable. … It’s too bad we’re in the position we’re in, but it is what it is. The future is bright here. We’ve got to keep building, keep pushing in the right direction.” The Ducks won three straight meetings before dropping the opener of the season series 4-1 on Nov. 6 at Los Angeles and the Golden State rivals will meet two more times after Sunday’s showdown. The Kings are last in the West after losing 13 of their last 14 contests (1-9-4), including a 4-2 setback at Arizona on Saturday night, and have managed three goals in the past three games. Former Norris Trophy winner Drew Doughty set up a pair of goals Saturday and owns five assists in his last five games to lead the club with 33.

ABOUT THE KINGS (24-36-8): Right wing Carl Grundstrom, a former second-round draft pick who was acquired in the Jake Muzzin trade from Toronto last month, scored a goal during his NHL debut Saturday in 13 minutes, 3 seconds of ice time. Captain Anze Kopitar leads the team with 48 points and needs two to reach 50 for the sixth straight season while fellow forward Jeff Carter is one away from 700 career points. Veteran Dustin Brown recorded three of his 16 goals - trailing only Kopitar (19) - in the last six games and fellow forward Tyler Toffoli is mired in a 12-game scoring drought.

ABOUT THE DUCKS (27-33-9): Rookie right wing Troy Terry has made a major impact on offense of late, recording two goals and five assists with a plus-5 rating in the last three games to give him 10 points in 22 contests. “Getting some bounces now that I might not have gotten earlier in the season,” Terry told reporters Friday after his second straight three-point game. “I’m playing with a lot more confidence now. It’s nice to have some go your way.” Henrique has scored in three straight games (four total) and Jakob Silfverberg (team-high 18 goals) owns six of his 30 points in the past four contests.
