As Wrexham have found out over the past month, the Championship is a different beast, and they’re still looking for their first home win of the season as they host QPR on Saturday.

However, the Rs are a work in progress too, having conceded 11 goals through four league contests, and my Wrexham vs. QPR predictions expect the Red Dragons to roar this weekend. Take a closer look at this September 13 clash with my free soccer picks below.

EFL Championship predictions for Wrexham vs QPR

My Brentford vs Chelsea best bet: Wrexham moneyline (-108 at SportsInteraction)

No one said it would be easy for Wrexham this year, despite the run of promotions and the aggressive transfer business, but the arrow is pointing up after a crucial 2-0 win over Millwall before the international break, and that victory quietened the noise stemming from the Red Dragons’ slow start to the season.

Phil Parkinson pointed to his team’s grit at The Den, where they had to soak up Millwall pressure, and that key ingredient, paired with the depth in the hosts’ squad, leads me to grab Wrexham moneyline at a decent price in this game.

The Red Dragons were 16-5-2 at home in League One action last term, and Parkinson may even be able to call on forwards Nathan Broadhead and Josh Windass this weekend after injury absences. Though keeper Danny Ward is out with a dislocated elbow, Arthur Okonkwo is a more-than-capable deputy.

Like Wrexham, QPR picked up their first league win of the season last time out, but they needed two late goals to see off Charlton, and I’m not convinced that they’ve addressed their defensive flaws. Julien Stephan had to apologize for his team’s performance in a 7-1 thrashing at Coventry last month, and the Rs are sweating on the fitness of Kwame Poku, Jake Clarke-Salter, and Ilias Chair.

The biggest boost for Wrexham might be Kieffer Moore’s evening off against Canada in midweek. Moore was an unused sub that night, and he should be fresh to lead the attack on Saturday.

Wrexham vs QPR same-game parlay (SGP)

Wrexham moneyline

Over 2.5

James McLean 1+ assist

The Over on 2.5 goals has been a winning ticket in five of Wrexham’s six contests this season across all competitions, and it’s a no-brainer for the second leg of my SGP, especially with QPR allowing the joint-most goals in the Championship so far this year (11).

James McClean is one of the men to watch in this matchup. He’s already piled up four assists, and I expect him to be at the center of Wrexham’s best moves on Saturday. Playmaking is his strongest suit, and I’ll pump up the odds by backing him to assist a goal for a Red Dragons attack that’s found the net 2+ times in five straight outings.
