Coventry City have been a standout promotion contender through the first three months of the Championship season, and they’ll put their unbeaten league record on the line against Wrexham on Friday.

The free-scoring Sky Blues have a three-point lead at the top of the table, and my Wrexham vs. Coventry City predictions expect both defenses to get a Halloween scare at Stok Cae Ras. Get the lowdown on this October 31 battle with my free betting picks.

Wrexham vs Coventry City picks and predictions

My Wrexham vs Coventry City best bet: Over 2.5 (-133 at Sports Interaction)

For all the talk about the freshly relegated trio from the Premier League — Ipswich, Leicester, and Southampton — and the mega-bucks ownership at Wrexham and Birmingham City, Frank Lampard’s Coventry are the story of this Championship season so far.

The Sky Blues’ surge largely stems from a potent attack. The visitors have scored 34 goals through their first 12 league matches, with Brandon Thomas-Asante and Haji Wright accounting for half of that total, and there’s no sign of them slowing down. Coventry have nailed this Over in five of their last six outings, and I see them cooking up another dominant effort in this match.

Meanwhile, only four teams have allowed more Championship goals this season than Wrexham. The Red Dragons have looked more organized defensively in October, with a run of grittier displays, but they’ve still only picked up one clean sheet from their last seven games.

The hosts do have an array of attacking options, though, and they only used Kieffer Moore and Josh Windass for 45 minutes off the bench in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday. With both clubs capable of magic in the final third, this could turn into an end-to-end thriller, especially if Coventry grab an early lead.

Wrexham vs Coventry City same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 2.5

Coventry City moneyline

Brandon Thomas-Asante anytime goalscorer

Coventry arrive on a six-game win streak, including emphatic road victories over Millwall and Sheffield on Wednesday, and I prefer to trust that form over Wrexham’s stretch of seven points from their past six Championship outings. The Red Dragons also fielded a strong side in the mid-week cup loss to Cardiff, and while they can freshen up the attack, fatigue could be a factor for Phil Parkinson’s men.

I’m also buying into Thomas-Asante’s lethal run. The league’s leading scorer has netted six goals across his last four contests, and that spells trouble for a Wrexham defense that’s struggled at times this year.
