Casey Pachall threw five touchdown passes and the game-deciding two-point conversion pass to Josh Boyce to lift No. 24 Texas Christian to a dramatic 36-35 victory over No. 5 Boise State in a Mountain West Conference showdown in Boise.

Boise State kicker Dan Goodale was wide right on a 39-yard field-goal attempt as time expired as the Broncos (8-1, 3-1) waved goodbye to their national championship hopes and TCU (8-2, 5-0) won its 22nd consecutive conference game.

Pachall, who passed for 473 yards, tossed a 25-yard scoring pass to Brandon Carter with 1:05 remaining. Horned Frogs coach Gary Patterson decided to go for two points, and Pachall hit Boyce in the right flat for the one-point lead as TCU snapped the Broncos’ 35-game home winning streak.

Boyce caught five passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns.

Boise State’s Kellen Moore threw two touchdown passes, including a go-ahead 54-yard touchdown pass to Dallas Burroughs 13 seconds into the final quarter. The loss was just the third of Moore’s four-year career.

Pachall torched Boise State’s secondary in the first half, throwing touchdown passes of 74 and 69 yards to Boyce and 75 yards to Carter.

The Horned Frogs led 20-14 at halftime but Tyrone Crawford’s 31-yard fumble return on the first offensive play of the second half put Boise State back in the lead.

D.J. Harper scored from 3 yards out midway through the third quarter to give the Broncos a 28-20 lead before Pachall hit Boyce on a 2-yard scoring pass and then ran a the two-point conversion run to tie the score.

Boise State’s previous loss came last November against Nevada when kicker Kyle Brotzman missed a game-winning attempt late in regulation time and another in overtime.
