Bettors piling on the Patriots feels like old times, but Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have been replaced by Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel.

Key Takeaways

  • The Patriots are the most-bet team by tickets and handle at BetMGM.

  • Lions, Browns, and Eagles are also getting attention.

  • The Raiders and Giants are suddenly popular in Week 7.

It might also have something to do with the opponent, but backing New England is back en vogue. Heading into a road game against the 1-5 Titans, the Pats are getting more attention than any other team in Week 7 at BetMGM and dominating tickets and money at DraftKings and ESPN BET as well.

“As Drake Maye continues to impress, bettors are taking notice,” BetMGM trading manager Christian Cipollini said. “The Patriots are the most-bet team to cover in Week 7, while bettors also believe in the Lions in prime time, the Browns cover against the Dolphins, and the Eagles to take care of business in Minnesota in what might be the best game this week.”

The Patriots (-7) are leading BetMGM in both tickets and handle. They’re getting nearly 90% of the money at the online sportsbook. DraftKings has also seen 86% of the handle come in on New England, which will also likely be a very popular moneyline parlay and teaser team this week.

Tennessee has seen just 1.5% of the outright winner handle at ESPN BET, where the Patriots are the most-bet moneyline team.

Attention grabbers

The Lions (-5.5) seem to be in BetMGM’s top five most-bet games every week, even in big ones. This time, they take on the surging, but depleted, Buccaneers on Monday night in Detroit.

While Detroit is dominating the money wagered at all three sportsbooks, ESPN BET and DraftKings have taken more bets on Baker Mayfield and Tampa Bay this week.

The Browns rarely see the kind of attention from bettors they’re receiving this week, but BetMGM customers have made Cleveland (-2.5) the third most-bet team in Week 7, while DraftKings has seen 85% of the money come in on the slight favorite.

The Vikings aren’t home underdogs often, but oddsmakers made visiting Philadelphia a 2-point favorite, and the Eagles are getting the majority of bets and money at all three operators.

Unlikely popularity

Speaking of rarities, the public is in love with the Raiders this week. Las Vegas is getting 62% of the handle at BetMGM and 60% at ESPN BET as a 12.5-point underdog against a Chiefs team that’s riding high.

Still, bettors aren’t convinced Kansas City can build on its run of three wins in the last four games, as the Raiders are the most-bet underdogs at BetMGM with odds of +525 to pull off the upset.

The Giants are another interesting road team getting a lot of spread and moneyline bets. New York is getting 72% of the tickets and 64% of the handle at DraftKings as more than a touchdown underdog at Denver.

Split action

Bettors aren’t in full agreement on everything in Week 7. The early Sunday morning game in London between the Rams (-3) and Jaguars is all over the place.

BetMGM has an even split on tickets, and the money is barely in favor of the Jaguars, who are slightly ahead at ESPN BET as well. However, DraftKings has seen 81% of the handle come in on Jacksonville.

The public also appears torn on what could be an ugly game between the Panthers (-1) and Jets. Tickets are split evenly at BetMGM, with the Panthers getting a slight 58% bump in handle. They have more of a following at both ESPN BET and DraftKings.

Total time

While bettors typically flock to overs, three of the five most-bet totals at BetMGM this week are calling for a lower-scoring game. Under 37.5 in Dolphins-Chargers leads the way as the most popular total. Rams-Jaguars under 44.5 at the neutral venue is third, while fourth is Panthers-Jets under 42.

The two most-bet overs are Commanders-Cowboys (55) and Bucs-Lions (52.5). At ESPN BET, overs in Eagles-Vikings, Rams-Jags, Giants-Broncos, and Commanders-Cowboys make up the online operator’s four most-bet totals by tickets.
