New Jersey sportsbooks returned with a vengeance in July with an 11.9% win rate, the highest this year.

Key Takeaways

  • New Jersey operators generated their third-best monthly revenue haul of 2026.

  • Soccer helped the “other” sports category produce a 12% hold.

  • FanDuel and DraftKings each increased year-over-year revenue by more than 20%.

A month after the New York Knicks’ NBA championship and U.S. men’s national team success in the World Cup group stage left Garden State operators holding on to just 6.2% of a $917-million handle, operators generated $97 million in gross revenue, a 29.7% year-over-year increase.

June ended a streak of 39 consecutive months of at least $60 million in profits, but July’s haul was the third-highest monthly profit of 2026. Operators benefited from the World Cup’s final knockout stages, including Spain’s win over Argentina.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement also reported on Friday that online and retail sportsbooks generated $816.9 million, a 23.6% year-over-year increase. Online New Jersey sports betting accounted for all but retail’s $2.3 million in gross revenue.

The Garden State filled its coffers with $20 million, pushing the year-to-date total to $127.3 million.

World Cup fever

July included nearly all of the World Cup’s knockout matches, including a U.S. win over Bosnia-Herzegovina before a Round of 16 loss to Belgium that padded operators’ pockets and created a big impact on the Garden State’s betting landscape.

Excluding football, basketball, and baseball, New Jersey’s “other” sports category, which includes soccer, experienced a 60% year-over-year handle increase, reaching $309.2 million. Revenue of $37 million spiked a massive 150% from July 2025.

The hold reached 12%, while parlays, which certainly included soccer legs, won 19.1% of a near $50-million handle. That helped Garden State operators record their highest hold since July 2024.

Baseball was the most-bet single sport listed in the report, but the sport’s handle dipped 10.6%, while revenue was down 9.2%.

FanDuel's big haul

Online Operator July Revenue YTD Revenue
FanDuel $32.8 million $239.5 million
DraftKings $25.7 million   $157 million
Fanatics Sportsbook $10.6 million  $51.5 million
BetMGM $8.8 million   $49.2 million
bet365 $7.7 million  $47.6 million
Hard Rock Bet $2.6 million  $12.1 million

FanDuel’s $32.8 million in July gross revenue was up 22% from the same month in 2025 and nearly $13 million more than in June. The Garden State’s most lucrative sportsbook is closing in on $240 million in year-to-date revenue, which is down 4% from the first seven months of 2025.

DraftKings hauled in $25.7 million, 21% more in year-over-year revenue in July on profits that were up 88% from June. Fanatics and BetMGM leapfrogged bet365, which finished third in June. Fanatics was the only other operator to generate at least $10 million in profits.

BetMGM’s $8.8 million in July revenue was up 37% year over year, while bet365’s $7.7-million haul pushed its yearly total to $47.6 million, a 46.9% increase from the same period last year.

Hard Rock Bet beat out Caesars by about $500,000 for sixth place in monthly New Jersey revenue. BetRivers and theScore Bet were the only other operators to reach $1 million in July profits.

Total gaming revenue

iGaming had a significant impact on New Jersey in July, reporting $276.9 million in gross revenue, 12% year-over-year growth. Online casino operators paid $61.6 million in taxes to the Garden State, which has filled its coffers with over $415 million from iGaming this year.

Year-to-date iGaming revenue of $1.87 billion is up 14.5% from the same seven-month period in 2025.

New Jersey’s total gaming revenue, including casinos, racetracks, and their partners, grew by 11.9% compared to July 2025. The $585.6 million was a less than 1% year-over-year increase. The state hauled in $92.2 million in July, running the year-to-date total past $592 million.
