You are making the assumption that you are going to beat the closing line on the Sunday night game every week. That is a HUGE assumption.

You are way too late on this news geordie. Celtics are 8-3 ATS in their last 1. People have realized that they are once again a dominant team. If you had come to realize this 20 games ago you would have made some good money.

Quality is literally the only thing that matters. If you have a +EV play, bet it. If not, take all the time off you need until you find the next +EV play.

Also, Lippsman, I understand that if you are a very experienced handicapper with proven models, you may identify a time when the 7 points is worth it at -130. My comments are more directed at the recreational sportsbettor who is basically flipping a coin.

Lippsman, are you paying -130 for your 7 point teasers? If so, can you explain to me mathematically when a 7 point teaser can be profitable?
I believe you are mistaken. |

Teasers in general are sucker bets, but there are times when the extra 6 points will give you enough statistical advantage to make it a long term EV bet.
Veronica basically proved out in one post that the 7 point teaser is a sucker bet, thanks for the information Veronica. Obviously if that extra 7 points is only getting you to a 66% win rate, you are going to get slaughtered over time. Very intelligent observation from the posters here who commented that playoffs, and especially conference championships, are the best time to tease. The lines are very sharp this time of year, as proven by the fact that teasing sides went 4-4 this week. For the poor bastard who is excited about teasing the total this coming weekend in the Super Bowl.......there is no faster way to lose your money than to include totals in a teaser. Someone would have to be completely incompetent to make that bet. |

And my last check request back in early December bounced.

I made my check request withdrawal on December 17th. It has not processed whatsoever, and the cashier is telling me a 6-8 week time frame. If anyone here received a check request in only a few days/weeks, you were very lucky. These guys are really dragging out their payments these days.

Original poster.....if you made this bet through a local, and you actually got paid, consider yourself an extremely lucky individual.
I placed a very similar bet in September. $25 to win $25,000 on the Cardinals to win the World Series. Heading into the playoffs the local told me that his site never should have allowed the wager at such high odds, and he was voiding the bet. Eventually he wiped out $500 that I owed him from other bets. So instead of a $25,000 pay day, I ended up with a measly $500. I am not going to read this entire thread and inspect all of the posts, but booski @ post #468 you have no clue what you are talking about. The odds absolutely got this high, and I believe there were even higher at one point. |

Oh man I wish I had read this earlier on. Drifter, check out my space and look for other comments where I discuss the amazingly overrated player that we call Lebron James. He was the third best player in this series alone. To call him the best player on earth is a sign that you have a remarkably short memory, and you don't care if your go to guy has zero heart. Don't get me wrong, he is a superb player. But Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitski, and Dwayne Wade are all superior. And they have 7 rings combined. Lebron has 0. |

Can someone like gridiron gang be banned permanently from covers, citing gross incompetence for the action? I encourge everyone here to read all posts from gridiron, and maybe we can start a petition to have him banned? |

Gridiron, how can you take a single opinion that we differ on, and write off my entire post? When you made your initial comment that no one player can do it alone, we are talking superstars right? Parker and Ginobili were not superstars back then. And even if our opinions differ on one issue, how can you ignore everything else I said in that post? I proved you completely wrong. Read it again, it disproves every point you made. Honestly you are contributing so little to this thread, everyone would benefit if you would just stop posting. ct1016, in sharp contrast to everything Gridiron has said, you actually make some intelligent points about Lebron's full game impact versus D Wade's. I guess the debate really boils down to what really defines a superstar, and what you value more in a player when trying to win a championship. Lebron is a complete player. He can perform all facets of the game better than most players. He is also in tremendous physical condition, and can play big minutes in 82 games a year. In contrast, Wade has had injury problems at multiple points in his career, including the Boston and Chicago series this year, and as a result he doesn't play nearly as many minutes as Lebron. All of the stats you post about Lebron leading minutes, assists, rebounds, etc. they are all indicative of the fact that Lebron is the more complete player, partially because he has had no health issues and he plays more minutes. Lebron gives 100% effort to all aspects of the game. However, when you talk about greatness in the modern day NBA, and winning championships, you think of guys like Jordan and Kobe (11 titles between them). These guys weren't always posting triple doubles with 10 boards and 10 assists, but they were the best players on the court, and they are the ultimate 4th quarter competitors. First of all, they are capable of playing the same defense and giving the same effort as Lebron. Look at Kobe's Game 7 performance last year. He couldn't buy a bucket, but his defense, rebounding, and foul shooting won the game. Look at Wade's performance in this series. His defensive energy is higher than Lebron's if you ask me.**** He is lightning quick, he makes steals, and creates transition points. More importantly though. these guys have pure jump shots, can create their own opportunities, and strive under pressure. Watch Wade's 2006 finals performance. You will NEVER see Lebron win a title for his team the way Wade did it. Lebron is simply not capable of carrying a team on his back like that. It was proven over 6 or 7 years in Cleveland. Wade took a completely mediocre supporting cast and won 1 title in 6 or 7 years. Lebron took a completely medicore supporting cast and won no titles in 6 or 7 years. Here's how I boil down this whole issue. If you are playing a complete regular season with the goal of reaching the playoffs, and you have the first pick in the draft, Lebron is your guy (or maybe Dwight Howard) because he is going to impact every single game for a full 82 games. He is going to score, recound, assist, play defense, etc. But if you are heading into the playoffs, and you are drafting 1 player to win you a title, Lebron and Howard are not your first two picks. Lebron is getting all the hype, but there are two players in this series alone who are better. Dwayne Wade and Dirk Nowitski are both far more valuable to a team trying to win an NBA title. They may not post the minutes that Lebron posts, but they are going to carry a team on their back in the 4th quarter. When there is 10 seconds left on the clock, all of their teammates will be looking to these two people to bring the game home. Wade is Superman, Lebron is the sidekick. ***Footnote to my defensive comments. Lebron played great defense down the stretch on D Rose last series, and now everyone is talking about his impact on that side of the floor. But if you look at Lebron in these finals, Terry and Marion are averaging 15 and 16 ppg, in 32 and 36 minutes. Lebron is only averaging 17 ppg in 44 minutes. |

Gridiron, there is a lot of dumb chatter in here. However my post addressed everyone of your arguments and basically explained why you sound like a moron. Please comment on post #34 before you continue this thread.

gridironguy, everything you are claiming here is wrong. Everything. 1) As far as the Cavs are concerned, they are a completely different team, who lost their number 1 option, and then suffered a half a dozen different injuries. Not to mention that they built that team with players attempting to compliment James. They are not built to win in their current state. Anytime a team loses its best player, combined with significant injuries, they are going to lose. Bringing the Cavs franchise into this discussion is not reasonable. 2) Can you really call Parker and Ginobili stars in 2005? Yeah they are great now, but they did not have the same impact then. 3) Who was Wade's second guy in 2006? If you say Shaq, Walker, or Payton, this thread should be closed down immediately. 4) David Robinson was well past his prime when Duncan got his first title. Robinson had his superstar years, before Duncan. He literally wasn't even playing 30 minutes a game when Duncan won his first title. Look it up. 5) In 2004 there was no single star. Billups, Hamilton, Prince, and Wallace were all great players. None of them were consistent superstars or Olympic caliber players. 6) Maybe Dirk Nowitski in 2011? We will see. I understand you are trying to argue Lebron's greatness, but your arguments themselves are very unintelligent. Lebron James is a great player, we all know this. But he is so overhyped past his true ability. Wade already won a title on his own. Wade is the superman, Lebron is the sidekick. If Lebron wanted to be superman he needed to stay with a franchise and build around himself, exactly like Dirk did. He can't jump ship and go play with one of the top 5 players in the league, who has already won a title. Lebron will never, ever reach the status of Jordan, Kobe, Duncan, or Wade, because Lebron had to create an unprecented all star trio to potentially get his title. They may win a title this year, Lebron may win the MVP even, but he will still not be in the same class of the all time greats. Sorry. |

I am uninterested in comparing SBRs' and Covers' involvement in this potential "bailout". Hopefully that argument will be solved in a short period of time. What I am very interested in is that fact that covers spent the first few days of this situation pushing all the blame to the US Dept of Justice. All Covers cared about is preserving their reputation, defending BetEd in the process. SO much preaching about how the US Gov't has our money, and how BetEd is powerless. Now we all learn that BetEd is fully capable of correcting this situation. Slowly and steadily we are learning that everything Covers says is deceptive. |

So is the author of this thread just a bullshit artist and having fun with everyone? Or is he dumb enough to believe the person who gave him the info? Tough call. Either way. There is a 0.0% chance that Mark Cuban walked into a Las Vegas casino and placed a wager of that size on the Mavericks. |
