There is a familiar pattern of bad actors exploiting any moment of
uncertainty in the pandemic.
Since the World Health Organization designated the omicron variant
of the coronavirus a “variant of concern” last Friday,
right-wing media have rushed to spread unfounded conspiracy theories,
raising suspicion about the variant’s origin and
denouncing the public response as a money and power grab.

Right-wing media responded to the news by pushing narratives
which suggest that the mere announcement of omicron’s existence
has sinister motives driven by money and power.

They also used the new development to ramp up 
their opposition to basic public health measures.

Some people just want chaos & anarchy

There's really no basis for that.

If they were smart they should just wait until more facts come out on omicron, and if the Democrats make much ado about nothing at that time, then lambast them deservedly so

But not now.  Damn silly.

And therein lies the problem (in bold):   "If they were smart..."

No matter what the Democrats do or don't do, the other side will invent a conspiracy theory to paint everything in a negative light -- despite NEVER providing any proof.   It's all just about creating false boogie-men narratives and grifting their own supporters for more money in an effort to gain power (or keep it)   No policies, no solutions.  American voters are just gullible pawns for their GOP greed and pursuit of even greater wealth at the expense of the majority.
