Trends & Things thread is back for another run...!
The purpose of this thread is to spot and post sharp trends
that jump out of the norm .
On ocassion this may be a combination of coinciding trends...
At times , solid trends will cancel each other out.
The selection of pertinent trends is not an exact science.
This thread is not meant as an endorsement or platform for making picks...
There will aslo be a weekly selection to be called:
Underdog Trend pick of the week.
This selection is to be monitored for its success or lack of it
throughtout the year.
The reasoning for selecting an underdog this year for such selections is the following :
In brief, it is generally easier to find solid reasons to back a favorite.
The Underdog sometimes needs a friend ...
Solid trends are such a friend ...
Due in part to the subjective nature of the selection process ,
such selections may be total busts or just plain average.
Regardless , of how these picks pan out...the thread will mantain
its integrity as a source of valuable information that may be of some use to some cappers on this forum.
As it is the case , you may need to cut through the clutter , in order to find that one stat or trend that is serviceable to you.
And quite possibly for the mayority of you , whatever information surfaces will not alter in any way how you view or wager on a game.
That is understandable.
Naturally , everyone is welcomed to contribute with their own stats, trends, or system type plays .
However, you must avoid the following >>>
A ) Do not post trends that have too many variables ...
example: Team A is 21-0 when playing a division opponent on a short week, if team B has just beaten a team on the road when laying between 3.7 to 7 points .
OK...ok.......You get the point.
If it is not clear at first glance ....forget about it !
as the saying goes ...Keep it simple stupid !
B) If you post a trend , make sure that it is from an official site,
If it is not ...make it known ...that it comes from another forum , or poster , if you wish cite the source.
If you have checked the numbers yourself ...even better.
C) Post significant, pertinent , and applicable trends !
D) Look for that one trend that makes you go WOW, and think twice about following it or at elast not going against it .
Examples of prior threads>>>>
Prior posts keep getting wiped out by covers , so
I will need to start printing material ....
otherwise , a lot of work will go to waste ...
It would be nice to archive it ...
Another note: I began tracking games between the AFC & the NFC last year ,
and towards mid year...and found a huge discrepancy over the following weeks resulting in a solid trend favoring the AFC teams against the NFC teams against the spread
If anyone is willing to update us on this year's matchups between the 2 conferences , it would be appreciated...
It may have taken a couple of weeks , or even a few weeks for this disparity to become apparent , but it is clear that the AFC is by far the superior conference , and as the weeks pass, and you hit midseason...the mismatch becomes painfully evident in the ATS
superiority of the AFC vs NFC
It would not surprise me in the least to see a repeat of such dominace down the line.
Refer to above link on week 13 ...
It is worth at least monitoring ....
because ...everyone knows that one conference is much stronger than the other , but do we really know ..>>>???
A lot more I would like to touch on , but enough for now .....
