I've never lied about my records this year so anyone who tells you the sky is falling on me is a flat-out liar (and that NFL record contains the two worst beats of the year: The Denver Pick 6 vs. the Jets and the Giants broken slot machine double fumble for 2 TD's vs. the Jags). You had those sides like I did and a guy wants to tell you to stop complaining? Tell them to shove it up their as*.
Onto this week.
Pick #1 - Eagles -1 over Seahawks
I love this spot for the Eagles.
After looking into this game, I just see Chip Kelly out-coaching Pete Carroll.
Has he done it before? Yes.
In 2009 his Oregon Ducks beat the USC Trojans 47-20. How did he win that game? He rushed the ball 49 times for 391 yards.
Well guess what Kelly has been doing since Sanchez has been under center?
He's been going with a run-heavy offense week after week and I'm seeing it crescendo on Pete Carroll's Seahawks just like it did five years ago against the Trojans.
The proof?
Since Sanchez came under center here are the rushing attempts per game starting with the win over Carolina:
23 for 102 vs. Carolina W
31 for 109 vs. Packers L
38 for 164 vs. Titans W
45 for 256 vs. Dallas W
That's 3-1 SU and ATS and their resurgence has been built around the run with some solid play by Sanchez as well.
I love how the run heavy offense is going to hit Seattle at the perfect time.
Seattle has 10 days to prepare but so have the Eagles.
Eagles at home. Seattle flying cross-country. I would like the 10am body clock time but can't get it with a 4am start. Basic stuff there.
Allegedly, Carroll 'knows' Sanchez but the passing game has been dialed back so whatever he knows will have less effect. And I just love that Sanchez has a real team around him this time to play Carroll. No matter what he says publicly (and Sanchez always says the right things), ya gotta think he'd love to burn his ex-coach after what he said years ago about Sanchez not being ready. Won't put too much stock in such a thing but it's a nice little footnote for the passing game, when Sanchez is required to pass.
Too much stock is being put in a Seattle defense that has allowed 6 points vs. the Niners and Arizona.
Remember, the Niners are just lost offensively at times and Harbaugh is on his way out. I don't want to take much away from the defensive effort on Thanksgiving but lets not go crazy about it. Niners were completely lost in every facet of the game.
The Arizona game? Stanton was coming off a huge win vs. his ex-team and Seattle was in a revenge spot of their own having lost to AZ at home the year before.
Both games were unique spots for a D that is admittedly peaking right now.
But Seattle is 3-3 on the road and I just think they are catching the Eagles at the wrong time.
Eagles with a lookahead game vs. the Cowboys? I say no.
I say THIS is the game you try to win and you don't put yourself in a situation where you have to beat the Cowboys twice in three weeks (very tough) to keep a strangle-hold on the division lead. Win this game and then have room for error vs. Dallas (and you still might take both too if you are Philly).
